Went in my local Porsche dealer to finalise my order for a RWD Taycan sports tourisimo
Found out they had 2 slots available for GTS for end of March beginning of April build because of the delay on ceramic brakes
Walked out 2 hours later with my order upgraded to GTS
Happy days

Spent some extra pennies no doubt. Congrats! Share your build when you can.

Congratulations! Bit of budget creep there? ?
Are you UK (as per your profile location) or US (as per your profile flag)?

Let's hope you get a working heater!

My GT ST arrived at the dealership on Monday of this week and then informed the day after that I would not be getting it until there were replacement parts (global issue / shambles) as the car was manufactured and shipped in the knowledge that the cabin heater wasn't working (there will be many cars in this position).

No indication of when it will be repaired and mindful that there is a growing queue of existing customers (800, UK alone) who already have this issue waiting on the same parts, I'm of a mind therefore, given the pending MY24 release to potentially walk away and re-order in August to secure an MY24 model for Nov'23.

Wow. Between the 12V batteries and the heaters, Porsche has some work to do with customer satisfaction. I understand that unexpected problems can arise but they need to do better with communication and at least try to offset some of the pain they cause.

Crazy that they are building cars which they know will have a heater failure. I suspect mine will be the same as it's currently in production. The availability of the new heaters in Europe maybe a bit better than the UK. Seems the UK always gets less priority but we will see.

I certainly will refuse to pay for the car until they have proved the heater works. Is there a recommended test os is it just a case of having it on full for a while?

UK is Europe is the world - same part and there is a long queue for it.

There will be a TSB out already and dealers will be informed as to the status of cars leaving production. At PDI the technician will be expecting this issue to occur and no doubt will test for it and confirm the issue.

It's Porsche that place the stop sale and not the dealer.

Same story as per 12v batteries.

Thanks useful. Let's see what happens with mine when it arrives. But I don't agree that the UK is in Europe as in EU. With RHD and Brexit it must be one of the reasons the wait times for Porsche are so long. I don't believe the UK buys any more Porsches than Germany and the wait times in most EU countries is 5-6 months and dealers have allocations.

The allocation situation today is different than it was last year. All dealers will have something. UK is the biggest single Taycan market (apparently in Europe). RHD vs LHD I don't think materially changes anything either. Brexit I doubt is an obstacle as the paperwork fiasco for export is simpler than import and besides 3 years have elapsed since the I'll conceived separation occured.

Truth is none of us know what actually goes on and how scheduling is actually managed. There have been many (too many) challenges to contend with not least the replacement of 1,100 Porsches from the Felicity Ace last February which will have frustrated the normal sequence of events.

From allocation to delivery takes 3.5 months in UK and I suspect similar across most of mainland Europe.

I am expecting to be in similar situation as SA says my car is due to finish production in two days time. Would you lose your deposit if you walk away and re-order ?

I was told in October 2022 there would be no allocations for a Taycan GTS in the UK until 2024. In France every dealer I spoke to had at least 1 GTS allocation 1st quarter 2023. available. Very useful of course when you are negotiating on price. One in Paris had 2 GTS available. The UK is clearly not getting much priority nowadays and Brexit/RHD is surely one of the reasons. What incentive is there for a German car manufacturer? It's easier to make LHD cars for Europe mainland.

I would like to think you wouldn't as they will easily be able to sell your car as new. This is purely a guess on my part but I would certainly argue the point given the circumstances.

France is a tiny market for Taycans.

Allocations are a moveable feast and change periodically - again some black magic / voodoo being applied. Add to this cancellations, additional allocations magically appearing and so on.

Personally, I take anything a dealer tells me with a pinch of salt as it will surely be different next time you ask.

Modern cars are designed to be ambidextrous these days so I still doubt that is a major influencer.

I saw screen shots of the allocations being available. Yes France is a small Porsche market but I have read on here plenty of other users ordering to available allocations in other european countries. It seems there is only a wait list in the US and UK. So I believe the factory is giving prirority to the EU but I don't have proof but plenty of evidenve pointing that way.

For me another advantage of living in France to name a thousand lol
