To me make sense. Most Taycan have been sold to companies. 25% tax savings + 20% vat. First Year make sense to lose 45% of its value. I am curious to see going forward what the depreciation will be after year 1. I think it will not move as fast after year one.
Depreciation of the Taycan is in line with all the EV. My Friend bought last year the fugly Merc Eqc. The most he can get so far (to get rid of it) is 42k. Car was 83k in February 2022. Only done 5k miles since.my I pace, bought in June 2020 with 11k miles on the clock is worth 27k. It was 80 when new.

You cant get the VAT back too mate and sleep at night... ANY personal use kills it on a PURCHASE. Ask someone who just had a VAT investigation like me and slept like a baby... I think you can get 50% LEASE vat back even if you have personal use (which you will as it isn't actually a van)! But leases have many costs over purchase. Each to their own.

On a brand new car?
I got 12% and extended warranty thrown in.
Come on Big Bob!
Give us the full story.
Nobody ever gets a discount on a new Porsche in the UK.
Free mug and key ring is about it.
Is there anybody else on this forum who got anything off a new Porsche from a UK dealer?

You Tubers with 250,000 subscribers don’t. Car Wow and What Car can’t find any discounts.
I am not high up the food chain at my OPC but I have rich mates who have bought a dozen Porsches in 10 years and never get a penny off.

When you bought your CT they were selling over list nearly new.
12% is the entire dealer profit in a new car. The dealer essentially gave you a car. Why would they do that?
They could have sold your car at full price ten times over in 24 hours.

Nobody has bought a car with a ‘suitcase of cash’ since Arthur Daley in 1973. Everybody in the trade knows you make more money selling a car with finance because of the commission.
Cash causes money laundering legal check headaches. Dealers don’t want to count 100k of grubby notes!
Are you blackmailing the Dealer Principal of your OPC with compromising photos or are they a close relative?
Or did they drop your 1973 911 Carrera RS off a service ramp and they are trying to make amends?
You didn’t just walk into a Porsche Dealer with a suitcase of cash and get 12% off. If you did, let us know which OPC it is and we can all go there for our next Porsche.

I don't know about UK. Here in mainland Europe, I got 6% without great effort but 12% sounds very steep especially in high valued cars. A family member used to work as SA for both Mercedes and Seat. While Seat would give 5% commission on sales, Mercedes would only give 2% over the base price (without options) which wasn't terribly appealing back then. A middle trim Seat would give the SA as much commission as a Mercedes at double the sale price.

Not sure there's even 12% to discount.

Some key phrases in your post made me laugh, good to see the old English dry humour ?

1-2% at most. In the form of some discount and Swiss Wax or similar. That’s been the case in the last 2 Macans we’ve bought. Taycan Swiss Wax on a stock new ST 4S but factory order GTS ST not a sausage. Of course there’s a bottle of champers, flowers and a mug, much prefer an umbrella. Will ask when I collect my GTS

I got an umbrella and box of reusable straws.
Ok now I have to google shop for those straws to match my Frozen Berry mug. That is totally the kind of accessory that is a must-have, along with my free rubber floor mats.

They’re blue so may not go with your mug well.

I think you may that find that the used market is now being flooded with Taycans ending leases at 2/3yr points - compared to a year ago the is a marked difference with used Taycans available online now compared to a year ago.

Although the Taycan is a very nice car it is still mainstream and by that simple factor it will loose value as will any other car combustion or EV……. ‘Sale and demand’
Mine 4s with toys last year a year old 100k. 6000miles. Same dealership this morning turbo same year 26 k miles 99
