Hi

So I only have the car for a few weeks and about 1300km traveled. During that time I did my fair share of accelerations, brakings, change of speeds, recoveries etc. Everything normal and predictable.

Today I was on a secondary road trailing behind a group of 4 or 5 cars at around 85-90km/h (I believe the car had already shifted into second gear. It's an rwd).

After a while, a straight came up without near head-on traffic so I decided to overtake that group.

I signaled left and floored the pedal expecting the usual smooth fast acceleration but instead, the car indeed accelerated for half a second, but then felt like a half second pause without any power (at that moment I thought - shit, something broke) and then it suddently jolted forward like a wild horse stung by a bee, threw everyone back against their seats and basically felt like a lunch control on steroids at 90km/h.

I passed them all in about 2 seconds but I was a bit baffled about that sudden "lag". It felt like a slow downshift followed by a violent pedal to the metal.

Is that normal? Never experienced it before but to be honest, I never floored it at around the gear change speed before. I've floored it way earlier (less than 60km/h) or way later (over 120km/h)

I couldn't repeat the experience to test it as wife was in the car and she had already commented "Can we turn around and pick up my stomach back there?". Didn't want to get her angrier.

Sounds like the downshift to 1st gear. It was probably much faster than you perceived it to be.

Now I want to go down and pull the dashcam video to confirm it ?

Did it feel like it downshifted to up the torque? And if it did, sounds like it wasn't exactly seamless. Good thing you didn't pay very much or you might be justified in being a little salty at behavior like this. :D

edit: i'm on satellite internet on an island in bad weather, this message was uploading for 8minutes... otherwise it wouldn't have said what the two posts before me already did. :D

Let's say that next time I'll refrain from flooring it unless it's a life/death situation. I almost sh*t my pants. I would have thrown up if it were a turbo for sure.

You. Should. NOT. Have. To "Refrain from flooring it". In. Your. Kickass. New. Porsche.

This is their issue and they need to solve it. Good thing it is likely software addressable.

This shift used to be much slower before the uPdate. Now it’s pretty snappy but when you’re not used to it, can catch you by surprise. Just drive in Sport mode all the time to avoid it.

I would bet that it’s due to the collision avoidance and when you floored it, the car considered the car you were passing was still impeding and then took off when you cleared fully. What you describe ACC does all the time.

By chance were you a little early flooring it?

Hmm ?

Yeah, I was in normal. Didn't even think about sport mode or downshifting

I guess I need to learn too.

Or switch to sport mode before pretending being Ayrton Senna ?

This is probably the worst part of this car. The casual "I just need a bit more speed" acceleration can have this stupid lag while the car shifts. The only way to avoid it is to stick in Sports mode at all times, but that has other issues.

Well I can't precise exactly how I did it but it's possible I accelerated before switching lanes.

Everything was also too fast to have noticed any message or sign that could have popped up.

I'll try again when I'm alone in the car ?

The downshift to first in normal mode is very quick and not something that would register as a real lag. However, the sensors on this car associated with ACC and collision avoidance are a bit imprecise.

range mode?

if you're in range mode there is a governer on top speed that feels a lot like lag.

Nah. I was in normal mode. I'm not THAT obsessed with range ?
