Started the process today of rejecting my CT4 with my local Porsche Centre.

Received the car early December 22 after a 12 month wait.

As of today (June 9th) the car spent the last 2 1/2 months in a body repair shop. The issue is due to 2 separate rainwater ingress issues - 1 into the tailgate and the other into driver’s side rear quarter. To date the body shop in fairness have tried their best but the leaks still persist. Reckon the fault was there from the start and I didn’t notice - my bad.

After this length of time and with today’s news that they still have a leak (after months of fixing) I have decided to reject the car. Lost faith on these two issues being fixed. Love the way the car drives and looks - can’t stand the fact that this issue cannot be fixed in a timely manner.

Question I have is - has anyone out there rejected their Taycan and how did it go? Did you have to lawyer up or was it dealt with amicably by Porsche?

I of course stressed that I was not trading this car in and losing my shirt - simply rejecting it and looking for something water tight ??? with the money I have already sunk into this car.

Is the car on finance? If it is speak to the finance company let them know your intentions. They’ll advise you from there. A friend of mine did this with an Audi that had a fault that couldn’t be fixed. Audi finance refunded all of his payments for the full year he had it and took the car back.

You have rights under the consumer credit act that you can action with the finance co.

if not on finance you need to rely on your rights under the sale of goods act.

Thanks - not on finance - bought the car through my limited company - thought it was a good idea at the time with the corporation tax breaks etc ?

Will read through the Sale of Goods Act and Consumers RIghts Act ?? that stipulates my rights in this situation ie fit for purpose etc.

My solicitor is a family friend which I haven’t informed of the situation (because she will rip the p155 out of me). I guess next week will be the start of a new era - Porsche will be sympathetic or my family friend will learn a lot more about Porsches.

I bought a Taycan 4S in February 2021, delivered November 2021. I was so excited, even in the cold weather, I didn't notice the heater wasn't working at all. This has since been an issue with many Taycan's, numerous threads on this from 2021-2022 (now mainly resolved with new heater being introduced a few months ago)

Got back to the Porsche dealer, who found additional problems (battery cooling pump fault from memory). Needless to say, I was not pleased at all considering the car cost north of a lot of money (bought for cash through my company)

Like a faulty toaster from Argos, I returned the car, writing an email outlining the reasons why and quoting the relevant legislation (Consumer Rights Act 2015)

Porsche were very good and did not cause any problems at all and I got a full refund. To get a full refund, you have to find the fault and inform the company within 30 days if memory serves. After that, it becomes more of an issue as you may not get all your money back.

I don't think you need a lawyer just yet, look on the internet, lots of useful information about this, just Google the relevant act...and good luck, don't take no for an answer.

Waiting for another Taycan was a pain though....

Thanks - that’s great information to have - will definitely be drafting an email/letter on this pointing out the chronology of this and the relevant act.

Won’t lawyer up at this stage. Plus “no” as an answer is not on the cards as well - the PC got that vibe already - just not in writing yet.

Looking back through my emails I first informed Porsche of this particular issue on March 19th (car had less than 600 miles on it) ie some 109 days from the delivery date.

I am convinced that this fault was there all along - I didn’t pick up on it through lack of use of the car/dry Scottish weather/car stored indoors/heard a noise but assumed it was something else etc

If th body shop told you they thought it was a manufacturing defect, try to get them to put that in writing, maybe by getting confirmation to an email question or something. Can't hurt. Otherwise the Porsche GB may require them all to bite their tongues while they investigate it.

Thanks for the advice. I am speaking to the body shop tomorrow - hope to get a report on the car - will try and get the silver bullet “manufacturing defect”. The body shop have had it for nearly 3 months so they should know it well - like speaking about an old friend!

Just an FYI. The consumer rights act does not apply to limited companies. Only individuals.
Thanks for the heads up. Researched the private individual v limited company bit. Looks like these are broadly similar with the exception being - an inserted clause in a business to business contract will supersede the normal rights a private individual gets……..,

“In general, when your business purchases goods or services from another business, you have similar rights to a consumer. This is the case provided there is no contract that contradicts this”.

Hopefully when I meet the dealer principal tomorrow we won’t be poring over the contract with him looking for a get out of jail free card. Neither of us are in the legal profession ?‍⚖

Yes, that was my interpretation from looking on the net as well, that in business to business transactions, CRA 2015 will still apply unless any contract excludes this...which it wouldn't unless specifically agreed.

Certainly didn't affect my refund at all, nor was it queried by Porsche. Onwards and forwards.....

Hopefully legislation won’t even come into it. It’s not like it’s a spurious issue that you’re complaining about. Porsche would have to be in a very unreasonable mood to try and block it.

Your dealer may do this anyway, but involve Porsche GB Customer Care, [email protected]
My experience was with a different model. My first new Porsche and I expected better, but problems happen with any brand. Document everything, if necessary get an independent opinion. Assert your case and you should end up better off despite the inconvenience. Look at new and demo stock and you may be able to find what you want there rather than wait for another new one.

Thanks - I wrote to Porsche GB last Tuesday and itemised the history of the issues. Got a standard holding email back requesting 10 working days to respond via their Personal Case Manager. The email said that they are experiencing a high level of customer contact etc etc.

Will post the outcome on here when I get it.
