Drum roll please…..here’s the update

“Great news your car is onboard a vessel on its way to Sheerness , once it lands and goes through PDI we will have a better idea to arrange a collection date . Thank you for your patience and I will update up as soon as I can see it has gone in to the PDI ( Pre Delivery Inspection )”
It’s on the Silver Glory, moored at a deep water anchorage off the coast of Margate. Apparently will be in port at the weekend and delivery will be in July. Hopefully some of you have your cars in Sheerness or on the Silver Glory too. A lot of brand new cars for sale on the website.

Hanny thank you so much for your kind words and acknowledgement of my situation. I truly appreciate it.

Having slept on it and thought on it ever since I received the bad news I have had time to step back and I've tried to find a solution.

I cannot change time off from both my job, my wife's job and my daughters private school on a whim. The option to rebook PEC and this trip at a later date is impossible so that option is completely out of the question and off the table.

I have zero interest in going down to PEC to pull the cover off a car that I have paid for in full in cash that I cannot leave with. Also you could not PAY me to drive 1000s of miles in a POS rental car. Last I knew no rental company offers a suitable Porsche (or exotic) for a one way trip that seats 3 people and luggage for a week.
Does such a company exist and even if they do are they local to Atlanta, GA?

The experience with my family, our vacation and this adventure are all intertwined around taking delivery of my personalized Taycan at PEC, our journey and our selected stops on the way home. To separate them opens a bunch of logistical challenges in terms of airfare and hotel reservations that I cannot undo/change or remake at the last minute nor would it be close to the expected/intended experience that we planned on for months.

If I were to go through with the purchase weeks from now after the car is transported to my local dealership I would need significant considerations from Porsche (and not solely monetary ones) the likes of which I doubt they will agree to, in order for me to complete the purchase with this terrible experience overshadowing it.

At this time I cannot see a path forward if the stop sale is not lifted on my car by tomorrow.

Thanks again for your comments and compassion.
just on the narrow point of :
"Last I knew no rental company offers a suitable Porsche (or exotic) for a one way trip that seats 3 people and luggage for a week. Does such a company exist and even if they do are they local to Atlanta, GA?"

yes to that question. My experience with Porsche Drive has been a good one.

Mmmmmmm, so I think my "good experience" luck, may have expired. After a really positive chat with Porsche last week, they said they'd come back with confirmation of delivery on Thursday last week, Friday latest... and then.................. silence. Not a word, not a sausage. Maybe they've been kidnapped for being so helpful and optimistic or detained for making a customer feel like they were walking on clouds? Back to guessing again now, I'm back to dreaming that this chat even happened, like I've been spoofed.

Has anyone else been given false promises before the ghosting?

I'd phone them up and ask for an update. I have to stop myself from wanting to do it when they've told me that they'll let me know when there is any news. If they'd promised me news by the end of the week and I hadn't heard anything then I'd be on the phone today for sure.

Yep, my first thought... this is where the ghosting kicks in. They are apparently always away from their desk  Tried Friday and today, just hoping that the game hasn't changed for the next month and it becomes a trick of getting them on the phone with a fake name and phoney moustache.

Awaiting my car...
Is there any way to find out the date of manufacture?
From the MyPorsche App or Website?

Luckily for me my dealer is around 1 mile from my house and I drive past them every day. They seem pretty responsive with me!

I ran a carfax report on my VIN, it says PCNA has my car under the WNT8 program. For a "3 day program" this car has been in port for 5 weeks so lol

What was your build complete date? Mine was 28/04 but the production line pictures are dated 14/04.
How did you find your build date? From the MyPorsche app? Could you point at the screen/ area where this is mentioned.
Mine is showing Stage 4 completed…

Ask your dealer for a screenshot of your order status, I don't think we can see it via the app or website

Thanks… Dealer won’t interact as car is via Leasing company (salary sacrifice) and the leasing company just doesn’t have any update… nor does it chase the dealership.
Leasing company will just wait until the dealer contacts them to say ‘car is ready’….

I ordered in Nov 2021, promised delivery was May 2022, I got my car in Februari 2023. If that counts as leading me on then yes :) In the end I didn't believe them anymore obviously. Near 2023 I was promised to get it before 2023. To make matters worse, the car broke down (faulty battery) after two months of ownership. I'm looking at getting it back end of August 2023 now. I hope you all have more luck than me.

If you have the production pictures download them on a computer, at least one of the pics has EXIF data and you can find the date the picture was taken by looking at the file properties. The pics on the app seem to have this data removed so login on a PC or Mac. Mine was build complete 10 days before I got the stage 4 notification.

Thanks .
The pictures would be of when the car was 'in production' as it shows the car on the assembly line... and not necessarily completed.
Or are we saying that the car does get manufactured within a day of coming on the assembly line?

I have used EXIFTool to extract the Photo Taken date.

Code pasted here for anyone else interested in looking up such information.
exiftool -s -a -G -sort -EXIF:CreateDate filename.jpg

or to see all embedded photo information:
exiftool -s -a -G -sort filename.jpg

Very interesting that Porsche use a Canon EOS-1D X Mark III with a f/4 L series lens to take these photos !

Another quick one:
My assembly line photo date is 26 May 2023... any 'wild' guess as to by when I could expect delivery?
