The PCM may be giving you these messages if it is unable to establish a good data connection to the server. This could be caused by your location, and when you leave the area and enter a region with good cellular coverage (perhaps that 5-10m of driving you mentioned) the problem resolves itself.It is hit or miss.
On any given day, one of three things is about equally likely to happen:
- PCM never fully boots the UI (sits on a spinning circle)
- Bluetooth/WiFi turns on, but only after about 5-10m of driving
- The aforementioned "Activate" screen keeps popping up, and Bluetooth/WiFi never works
That said, if you get this same PCM booting issue all the time, and at any location, then I recommend getting the dealer involved. Something doesn't seem right.
