The final thing you’ve obviously got to talk about is range. The the favourite line I always use is ‘so you want a car with the batteries bigger than your bladder?’.

Ultimately, if you’re looking at a 50 year-old-man who says they can drive 400 miles without stopping you just have to have a little conversation and say ‘really?’.

If a car can do 200 miles, which in the in London and the south east is three hours motoring. You’re going to stop.

That is a good argument for charging at home and motoring around town but if you need to go out of town then you need to have a charger when you are taking a break and it does not take an hour to charge until the next stop.

IME by choosing a high power charger near a cafe I have always had enough charge whilst ordering and drinking a drink to get me to the next place I plan to stop.
Range isn’t any more a concern for me in my EV than it was in the small sports cars I enjoy.

Completely agree. Did my first longish trip from London to hotel in South Wales 2 weeks ago, 540 miles round trip, stopped once for 30 min each way at Ionity to charge to 100%. Felt terrible "middle class" guilt as I used the toilet at the Subway sandwich place on both legs...but didn't buy anything, well I wasn't hungry was I!

The hotel had a free Zappi charger so charged overnight to 100%, repeated exact same stops on the way back. Didn't even bat an eyelid. And what fun the Taycan was to drive...

So I really don't know why you would "finally" mention range. I would mention range first to ensure that buyers understand that for people like me who drive every day locally and who make the occasional long trip (which I think is likely to be most of us), it really won't ever be an issue especially with the sheer convenience of home charging.

I bet you used Magor IONITY?
That appears to have just the one tiny Subway and that’s all.
Did you have any issues?
I don’t yet have my Taycan but borrowed one for the day and took it up in to Wales. Thought I’d try a test charge there. First stall said ‘unable to charge, charger error’, the next said ‘unable to connect to car’, the third did start working (at an impressive 263kw) but then stopped with an error after 4 minutes. I then gave up, as I didn’t need to charge to get it back to the dealer. Not ideal!

Yes correct. Ionity Magor. They have 6 chargers. Space for a further 6.

Plug and Charge worked perfectly for me. I’ve had similar issues as you at other Ionity stations but there is a helpline which has sorted charging issues out fairly promptly before. The charging infrastructure is still less than ideal overall, but for the occasional long trip it’s fine with planning for situations like you experienced

Another thumbs up for Magor Ionity. £1 for a subway drink, by the time I'd had a wee, checked emails and finished my drink I'd added loads of miles

I only ever charge to 100% overnight, at DC chargers it slows as it gets higher and so I just go.
