Apparently mine is subject to both WNT8 and APB2. I'm confused in reading the thread - is it a definite 50 day wait...or just have to wait until they are able to test the battery?

My Porsche app is frozen at 'en route to your Porsche dealer', even though it arrived last week

Same here, the car arrived last week, TYD still says en route to dealer. I suspect that's simply the dealer not bothering to report its arrival.

As for our car, the dealer initially said the first WNT8 measurement had been done and they just needed to submit the second one, but they also need to do the mechanical testing of the battery. I have a scheduled phone call this morning. I'm anticipating the worst.

How was the call? Hopefully it's not the worst!
Apparently in Canada, there is still no instructions. I'm basically just waiting and stuck.

Could have been better. The VAL for WNT8 was sent to Porsche Cars North America. That has to go to Porsche AG, Porsche AG has to do their analysis then send it back to PCNA who can then let the dealer know the result. Only after that, can the service department check the battery for leaks. I did verify that they have the tools to do it. Still no timeline.

Man, that's potentially a lot of batteries (1,899 Audi models and another 4,777 Porsche vehicles). That will really mess up the supply chain if a large fraction of those fail the leakage test...
The estimate is 3% are bad, so that's 150 batteries to be replaced under the recall.

Mine is waiting for the testing order to come in from Porsche AG, so should be among the first to get fixed if there's a problem. It's still just sitting there.

But it looks like pretty much EVERY Taycan built between the end of September 22 and into May 2023 is subject to the recall.

Interesting. My car falls into the VIN range and production range, but when searching on NHTSA site, it claims no recalls on my VIN, so perhaps electrek jumped the gun publishing that the recall is searchable by VIN.

One thing which is puzzling from the Chronology section of the above document. The original leakage reports were on cars without Teroson sealant at all, which is why they added it. After adding it it turned out to be insufficient, so they made it better. Why only recall the cars with initial Teroson sealant, and not cars with no sealant at all?

“The vehicle populations prior to the recalled vehicle production period did not have the Teroson sealant and thus are not subject to the failure mode of the recall population.” (Ie the new feature had a bug.)

Yes, but the same report says those cars had leak reports:
Beginning in 2022 Porsche became aware of a limited number of non-U.S. field cases involving reduced insulation resistance values, some of which indicated liquid intrusion into the battery. None of these incidents resulted in a fire or thermal event of Porsche vehicles. In September 2022 a Teroson sealant was incorporated into the battery production process for Taycan vehicles in an effort to increase battery sealing robustness.
So it sounds like cars without the Teroson sealant had leaks, hence the introduction of the sealant in September of 2022. To put it in your analogy: there was a bug, fix was applied, fix didn't work, additional fix was applied, only cars with inadequate fix were recalled. Cars with no fix were not recalled. Why?

If I were to guess, I'd say that the originals were working as designed and it would be on Porsche's dime to replace those units. The ones with the faulty sealant are leaking because of the faulty sealant so the repair is likely to be on Henkel Adhesives' tab.

Henkel Adhesives will need to pay for 150ish battery replacements now, Porsche will have to pay for an undefined number of replacements of batteries that fail prior to the warranty expiring through 2030.

Well worth it...

I'm new to this forum and came across this post. That is a beautiful car. Love the black wheels with the Mamba green. I have a white 4CT on order, although my kids really wanted me to go for the green, and I was tempted. Wouldn't have been able to now anyway as they have stopped making that colour.
