I am seriously considering moving from a 2021 Tesla Model S long range model to a Taycan 4s or Turbo. The advertised range of my Tesla is ~350 miles, HOWEVER I realistically only get about 70% of that at most. I drive aggressively but even on days where I put mostly highway miles I notice the actual range is not even close to what the car is telling me I should be getting. This is something every Tesla owner I know has stated, so I don't think it is just my car. My question is, what is the real world range of your Taycans? I know driving style will affect the range but I'm hoping the estimated range is closer to what you actually get. Thanks.

My realistic highway (120-130 kmh) range in the summer on 20 inch wheels is around 350 km (220 miles) . Higher speed and lower temperatures decrease range but in general a bit less than with Tesla.

All range posts on the guessometer on the forum are off less importance. The only thing that is important is the highway range in my opinion.

the Taycan does well on the 1000 km challenge by Bjorn Niland. Range is not best of class but charging speed still is. And both are important for longer trips.

You'll find many good real-world mileage examples here on the forum, under many threads. Generally speaking, the Taycan meets or exceeds it range ratings, and the on-screen estimate is very accurate.
As one example, on 21" Mission-E wheels with summer tires I get around 230 miles of range on fast road trips on fast US highways, and around 290 miles on leisurely drives on slower roads or commute traffic.

220-250 miles on my Turbo driving 'normally' ie using the performance. Driving conservatively in range mode I've seen 275 miles in summer on the motorway. (Should be the same for a 4S.)

N.B. This is using 90%+ of the available battery capacity. If your the anxious type who won't charge above 80% or let the battery run down past 20% you'll have to factor the above ranges accordingly (30%).

In my experience the range meter is very accurate and can be relied upon when driving.

It's the charging speed that makes all the difference with Taycan though (5-80% in less than 20 minutes in my experience) on a high power charger.

Last Saturday(16/09/23), drove 220 miles from London to Birmingham & return which left me with 67 miles & 25% battery. Weather was 19 degrees centigrade. RWD with PB.

Be aware that DC fast charging from Electrify America (distance between sites, number of charging dispensers per site, actual charging rates, and uptime) is generally considered much worse than that of Tesla Superchargers. Many threads on this forum, youtube, and other social media with details.

A month ago I drove 1500 miles on road trip. At no time did I get anywhere near Taycan max charging rates from any of the many EA sites I used. I believe the reason was that EA limited charging rates at the sites I used. Noticeably worse than on same trip twice a year ago. I charged successfully at each site, but at lower than normally possible rates.

Edit: by 'actual charging rates', I mean actual dispensed rate compared to advertised rate of the dispenser.

In my MY2020 4S......... all references between a 85% down to 20% SoC- 235 miles is a good reference for normal day to day, on long hauls I regularly drive at 80-90 and see closer to 210 avg, I have been able to get up to 280 when I am being conservative on long haul, and in bat outa hell mode have seen it at 180 worst case .... (for me)

Taycan RWD, small battery. Pretty much the lightest out there - with 100% charge and normal driving its getting around 370 kms of highway, using a/c, music, and, well, using it as a normal car in general.

city, with active (sometimes overly active) driving, would be around 310 on an 80% charge.

Wow...this forum is awesome. Thanks for all the responses! I still don't understand how Tesla gets away with having their estimated range being so inaccurate. Good to see that the Taycan gives you a realistic estimate. Seems like the range difference between the two is not as great as I thought.

I'm not sure it was clear from the answers, but Porsche offers two battery sizes: performance (~79kwh) and performance plus (~93kwh). Most of the above reports were probably with the 93kwh, and if range is a concern, that's the one to get. But a RWD (not on your list) with summer tires and a 79kwh does comfortably over the 200 mile EPA rating.

200-250 depending on time of year and how heavy my right foot feels on any given day. I’m running 21s on a CT4 because I care about looks more than range.

I have my Taycan Turbo S 2020 for around 4 months and 4K miles. I had a Tesla Model S for around 40K miles and the user experience on range is so much better in the Taycan. I'm getting around 240-280 miles constantly in my Turbo S in normal mode, and around 200 miles in sport.

Edmund actually test all cars based on EPA and real usage, and Taycan vs Model S long range are very close actually. If you are happy with your range with Tesla, experience will be very similar in Taycan IMHO. Link here - https://www.edmunds.com/car-news/electric-car-range-and-consumption-epa-vs-edmunds.html

Tesla charging infrastructure is just amazing, and Electrify America is more like Electrycrap America TBH. From a ex-tesla owner to current Taycan owner I can give you the following feedback. Charging infrastructure and UI/Data available is much better in the Tesla, everything else I stick with the Taycan.

I just check my car now, is at 168 miles at 58%. Doing quick math is around 289 miles at 100%.

My 2022 CT4S has averaged 3.5 miles/kwh over 10,000 miles (winter to summer). With an 83 kwh net battery, that works about to an average of 290 miles of range with the 21” wheels.
