I had some concerns with ride height driving around some of the streets near where I live, then realised that 'Range' mode sits lower so popping it into 'Normal' mode gave extra clearance - voila, no more problems! :giggle:
Yes I learned what appears to be an expensive lesson in taking it out of range node before entering parking lots, or sketchy road conditions.

Still waiting on final details from state farm but Porsche certified body shop says:

new subframe, new front bumper skirt, new windshield wiper fluid reservoir and pump and new plastic bottom cover

seems completely repairable , scheduled to start on Sept 12th, and they don’t see an issue getting parts.

I am going to ask about confirmation there isn’t any concerns with battery or signs of force/damage on it.

Sadly sounds like it is waiting on parts :( looks like another week at least without the Taycan…. :) turns out a Toyota Camary doesn’t handle the same but I can’t complain not totaled, I am working on cleaning the garage in prep for getting it back and ordered clear side lights to install when it comes back .

Definitely unfortunate! When I first got the car, I really wanted to keep it in the lowest setting... and thought, if I don't scrape anything, I'll even get new links to lower it a bit more. That changed quickly when I turned into my favorite coffee shop's driveway and scraped the underside of the front bumper. Ha!

I'm still able to keep it in the second lowest setting around town and constantly use smart lift. I reserve range and sport plus modes for the highway, but even second guess that setting in construction areas.

Hope you get your car back soon!

Not necessary if one just pays attention to the road and doesn’t overdrive their sight line. I’m in lowered mode everywhere except dips, speed bumps, and parking lot entrances, and I never scrape.

It would seem that when the body shop and State Farm reviewed the car they didn’t check the HV system…:( instead of picking up the car it was towed to a Porsche dealer who has an HV specialist to review if the HV system is ok. This is the first person I have talked to who suggested it could be totaled depending on what is found. I guess the legacy car shops and insurance adjusters focus on the mechanical still.

Because of a ground strike at low speed?

Jfc.

I'm starting to question my life choices not going to lie.

Dealers HV specialist says HV system is fine, so back to replacing the front subframe. Which is now happening at dealer and apparently requires draining of coolant for HV and is 50ish hours of work..

Sounds like I will get it back next week!

one odd thing the service rep mentioned was they had to unplug and drain the battery coolant as part of the replacement of the front subframe.

I thought the battery coolant was a closed system for the life of the battery.

Has anyone had to have their battery coolant replaced.

There is a schematic of the cooling system in this iunteresting article:-

https://jalopnik.com/an-extremely-detailed-look-at-the-porsche-taycans-engin-1837802533

I would guess that pipework between cooler at the front of the car and the battery itself may well be routed through the subframe and needs to be disconnected to change subframes hence the need to drain the coolant.

Should get it back next week or week after.
For no body damage or paint work this has taken a long time to sort out and get done. A few weeks were wasted at the body shop which somehow they didn’t know they couldn’t do the repair until after 3 weeks..
