I have the PDLS plus with LED matrix lights and I noticed that the lights don’t turn in the direction of the turn when turning the steering wheel. I noticed it did with my loaner Taycan. Is there a quick DIY fix for this?

The U.S. Dept of Transportation just approved dynamic headlights this year, but with some remaining limitations compared to rest of world (ROW):
Perhaps your loaner Taycan was produced after the DOT revised the regulation. Here are some prior threads on that topic:
Here's a company offering to reprogram the Taycan to activate the full PDLS functionality:

Could a dealer reprogram this if it was purchased as such from the factory?

Are you certain the loaner was optioned with matrix LEDs? Standard PDLS swivel, whereas limited matrix functionality in the States brighten/dim Individual LEDs to simulate swiveling (not as noticeable as standard).

Lights don't swivel in Euro spec with matrix but LEDs relevant to the turn light up

I've found the effect with LED matrix lights very subtle/smooth.

In other cars I've had with dynamic lights, it's very obvious they are moving.

With the LEDs, the light just changes smoothly. Whether going round corners, or round the outsides of cars in front.

I would be moderately surprised if this mattered. I rode my SA pretty hard about this a couple of months ago, because I really wanted matrix headlights. I mention the timing because these conversations happened after the change in the NHTSA regulatory environment.

At that point in time, SA made it clear that full matrix activation was not being done by the factory for US sales. I couldn't even get them to guarantee that having the activation done by the third-party you referenced would not void the warranty.

My understanding, largely from discussions here and on Rennlist, is that NHTSA is not allowing manufacturers to qual a particular headlamp once and then say "yep, that's the one we're using in MY X, Y and Z of models A, B, and C". Instead, they have to qual every single model year of every single model with the appropriate lamps in place. And when I relayed that understanding to the SA, it was indicated that that was their interpretation as well.

If Porsche had done that for Taycans that are being sold in the wild, I would have expected them to have publicized it, and I haven't seen anything indicating that they have.

Thanks for the reply. Should I see a little light dance when the car turns on? It did the dance with my loaner but doesn’t with mine.
What’s a good way to test the smooth change?

I believe the loaner did not have matrix but had a very noticeable swivel.
Maybe the matrix functionality is limited in the US *shrug*
so what are we really getting in the US for PDLS+ and matrix LED?

So many of us who are optioned with matrix LEDs ask that very question every single day, some with hopes of Porsche activating full functionality after NHTSA approval. However, it doesn't look like that's going to happen. There's a unique startup sequence with the matrix LEDs?

But yes, full matrix is limited in the U.S--there is no beam shaping/anti dazzle. You only have auto high beams on/off.

Has anyone used 9xx to get their ECU programmed for full matrix functionality?

No dance. On power off you may notice the lights go out as if one by one.

Park in front of a wall or garage door when dark. Turn the steering wheel left to right to see the light beam alter. Turn the lights off to see the shutdown sequence.

Am not sure as haven't really looked for it.

They seem to do a horizontal curtain/fade out effect when turning off on mine.

Which lights do you have? I think there are a couple of different versions that may behave differently (matrix and non-matrix).
