I did not know this either. I thought the fog button simply changes the light pattern. However, these look like Standard lights, I will need to check how my Matrix behave when Fog button is pressed.

Isn't it a feature of PDLS to alter the beam pattern in fog to prevent simply lighting up the fog?

Must admit I'm not clear on this but i thought that the only physical fog light was the rear red LED and a pattern / beam change to the front when activated.

My understanding as well. However, different headlight types may handle it differently. The OP clearly has the standard, most basic setup from J1.1 that appears to have a dedicated fog light that actually can go bad and needs to be replaced. I will check mine and report here which is a J1.1 with Matrix lights with US setup that has matrix functionality disabled, that may also behave differently from full Matrix enabled setup on other places.

I noticed this recently when driving in some fog. Pressing the fog light button turned on the rear fog lights as expected but also changed the headlights to aim lower and reduce glare. It actually was helpful.

I have a 2025 4S J1.2 with "HD-Matrix Design LED Headlights". The front headlight behavior surprised me so I looked it up in the owners manual and the only thing it states about pressing the fog light button is that it turns on the rear red fog lights. It does not say it adjusts the front headlights.

I had a 2020 4S with "LED-Matrix Design Headlights incl. PDLS+" for 5 years and it definitely did not change the front headlights when the fog light button was pressed.

HD Matrix will adjust automatically for fog (set when rear fog light is enabled (no way of determining it is foggy otherwise)).

Standard Matrix (from the Owner's Manual):

Adverse weather function

When the fog lights are switched on, the driving light distribution changes at speeds of less than approx. 60 km/h. The light beam becomes wider and reduces glare.

Just did my dimlight today, and for those not certain yet how to do it... don't put your headlight in the oven. The glue is not a heat snail, but rather some kind of silicon rubber... it doesn't melt at all. So I eventually ended up cutting too. If I had known that, it would have saved me at least a day.
Hi. What did you use to cut round the lense to remove it?
