I suggest you tell your SA that the heater is not working like it used to and that you want to bring it in. I’d also ask if they have replacement HV heaters available.

Better to get the process started now before the temperatures really get cold.
I’m waiting to be called in for the battery test. Not really fond of taking my car in for service. ?

I suspect mine may be on its way out. We’ve had a few days of colder temps around here, and it feels to me like the (pre-)heating is not as fierce as i recall from last winter. There is warm air coming from the vents, but not as warm or as fast as the conditions would seem to require. 0*C/32*F ambient temp, 21.5*C/no idea *F target; even if i crank it up to 24 or turn windshield defogger on it’s not really warming up. Battery temp is around 9-11*C.

I’d be very curious to know the eligibility criteria for the heater recall..
How long does it take to get to 21.5C? I recently remotely pre-warmed my Taycan recently in ~0C, 35 minutes later the car was warm (I had it set to 72F, so 22.2C). It was parked outside for ~6hrs, temps dropping during that time. The car might have been warm before (unlike Tesla, the the Porsche app doesn't tell me when the car has reached the target temp), it just took me that long from when I turned on the pre-heat to when I made my way out to the parking lot.

similar question, actually. My heater works (car manufactured summer 23), but I somehow think it should blow hot air faster than it does?
Is there a difference in heating speed between the AC eco and normal AC modes in the climate menu?

Answer: If you have to ask/have not been contacted, your eligibility is:
your Taycan is eligible for a new heater after your dealer confirms the existing heater has failed.

Follow-up question: When you have your Taycan heater replaced, will the dealer be able to confirm that the replacement heater is different/better/more reliable than the heater that failed?
Answer: Unlikely.

Yes there is. If you feel it is not heating or cooling fast enough you should switch from eco to normal.

@McgR My Taycan and yours both had failed heaters replaced in December, 2022.
I don't know if you have been following heater thread started by @Jonathan S.

Looking at info about heater versions that were replaced in his car, link here, it is likely that the heaters replaced in our Taycans in December are not as new as the version that was just replaced by recall in his car.

We need to keep monitoring our cabin heat closely this winter. ;)

One interesting tidbit from the other thread is that at the dealership where my heater was preemptively replaced, previously about 15 to 20 heaters had already been replaced, all failures in the field, not preemptively.
Mine was the first such preemptive replacement at this particular dealer. One other preemptive replacement had been scheduled there so far.

The rest of us, waiting for our heaters to fail (again), don't understand why your Taycan is so special that it gets pre-emptive heater replacement.....

I have also been puzzled by this contrast!
I had previously read about the frustrating situations of the stop sales and field failures.
Then Porsche sends me two emails, one postal letter, one app message, and one personal phone call. All for a heater that had been working just fine. (At least so far, over more than 20,000 miles across the original owner and then me.)
The other contrast is that such a small part takes so long to replace!

Do you know the part number of the replacement?

Quick update. I showed up at my dealer this morning. They took the car in and replaced the heater within 4-5 hours. Good to go now. According to them, Porsche is doing a gradual recall based on a guesstimate of when cars will have heater failures. Recalling all vehicles at once isn’t really feasible as Webasto cant deliver enough heaters.

kudos to my dealer for a super fast turnaround. Even got a loaner for the day.

It’s a long thread ?
So is this ?. Tl;dr: the new part is iteration ".F" on the same original part number.

(To my knowledge, that is by far the worst/most number of iterations on a single part by Porsche, especially in such a short time - 3 years? The previous 'worst' example I'm aware of was the coolant expansion tank on the 996 - this was the first gen water-cooled 911, and packaging was an issue. The tank cracks and leaks coolant over the exhausts. Current iteration is .E, issued ~15 years after the original.)
