EDIT 4 Feb 2024: No one has been able to confirm the statements made by a couple of Arizona Porsche salespeople, and there's plenty of evidence to the contrary, so let's consider the "CT discontinued in the US" rumor to be debunked.

Today I visited a Porsche dealership in Scottsdale, Arizona, US and asked how long the waiting list is for placing an order for a Taycan Cross Turismo (CT). The salesman said that no more Cross Turismos can be ordered, as they will soon be discontinued in the US. (I did not ask for a definition of soon.) He said that they just aren't selling well in the US, as US customers prefer SUVs to wagons. Another salesperson within earshot agreed that no more CT orders will be taken.

On his computer, the salesperson showed me the approximately 4 CTs they had in stock, and the approximately 4 more that were on their way. He said there'd be no more after that.

I was taken aback, and asked whether this also applied to the Taycan Sport Turismo. He said there was no such thing as a Taycan Sport Turismo, and that what I was thinking about was actually the Panamera Sport Turismo. I was surprised that I was (apparently) so wrong about that. Later when he stepped away, I checked the Porsche website and found that at least the Porsche webmaster believes there is a Taycan Sport Turismo. Unfortunately, I was unable to locate the salesman to get clarification on the discrepancy.

I'm not sure what to make of all this. Does anyone have any more information on:
- The discontinuation of the CT in the US, or
- The status of the Sport Turismo?

Thanks.

Unrelated, but I thought I'd include it here anyway: when I asked about placing an order for a non-CT Taycan, the salesman replied that if I placed an order in Feb 2024, the car would likely be manufactured in May, and I'd receive it roughly in July 2024. That sounded quite reasonable to me.

I’m hoping those salespeople are just as uninformed about the future of CTs as they are about the existence of the ST.

The Panamera sold in far fewer numbers than the Taycan, and they still carry a Sport Turismo in the lineup. It doesn’t make sense to discontinue the wagons in the US, they’re all made to order anyway.

Taycan ST continues for now but the Panamera ST (new facelift) won't see the light of day and only the saloon will be made / sold.

Taycan CT - not sure but to be honest there was never room for 3 CT / ST variants in the Porsche stable. Remains to be seen if there is a need for both Taycan and Panamera.

My unofficial GTS ST is still here and safe.

I've never seen it so bad that they claimed a model didn't exist, but I've had a number of times when the sales person clearly was full of hot air about vehicles I was interested in (including the Porsche salesman who told me he couldn't remember the style name of the wheels but was dead sure it wasn't the 21" RS Spyder I was saying it was. It was the RS Spyders lol). When talking to a friend who is a former Porsche salesman he pointed out that the majority of the buyers he dealt with just wanted an SUV and didn't even fully know the model names. Target price, Porsche SUV, end of discussion. The enthusiasts, of which there are significantly fewer than the SUV-ist, often knew more than they did about the cars. The exception was the one or two sales people who handled the high end clients and needed to know all the customization details in and out. Given the percentage of each type of buyer it didn't make much of a difference to know the ins-and-outs of every model.
It is a bit sad the sales person had such misguided info, but not surprising to me in the least.

If true, this would be a strange decision. Taycan has such a limited use case as a daily driver as it is (high cost, “modest” range and limited space for carrying people and things). The Cross Turismo moves the needle ever so slightly towards practicality and year round usability. This would be a major head scratcher.

My service advisor also told me the same and I've been politely nodding as I thought he may be confusing the panamera wagon being discontinued. Maybe he was right?

Maybe not so surprising after all. Wagons are disappearing from the lineups of other manufacturers - BMW gone, for MB the current is the last one, and we’re slowly being funneled into Volvos.. ?

Technically every car bought by a dealer is "made to order" but I believe you meant were "customer orders". But contrary to what your west coast greedy dealers may be telling you, that is no longer the case. Dealerships who decide to fully consume their allocations have been ordering them for stock, just like the pre-COVID days and have been for months. In some cases most dealer orders has been for stock for the last 6 months as the market has dried up.

My dealer has 20 Taycan's sitting in their back lot that were not customer orders and 5 that were customer orders that cancelled. With the MASSIVE discounting all other EV manufacturers are doing, INCLUDING Audi there is virtually no interest in a $100K+ single motor, RWD "entry level" EV sedan much less $150K+ maxed out higher performance models when you can drive down the street and pickup an Etron for $30K discount or a Tesla Model S Plaid for less than an entry level Taycan RWD. According to my SA the market has dropped out from underneath the Taycan and resale is in the tank. Luckily I have no intention of selling mine for years to come because if I did I would stand to lose my shirt.

But back to the OP's comments, I’d be perfectly fine if they stopped importing the CT/ST Taycan's once the Macan EV hits the dealers. It only makes mine more rare and potential able to hold it's value but I don't really expect that to happen.

I was wondering the same thing. Assuming this is true, is Porsche just pushing people towards the Macan EV for some reason?
