Just got the '23 month ago. We were considering ordering the refresh. Now that I see the new design, I have zero regrets. Gone are the curves that I love so much on the CT. Those creases I really don't like. Range? This is why I have XC90T8 for. And frankly, with my kids, we do 200+ mile trips by car once per year. Maybe.

Take it easy man! 50 miles more range I don’t see how can get you frustrated! Facelift CT 4S is now 10k more expensive than my 2023 CT 4S!
I fell in Love with the design and bought it because of that.
Infrastructure will improve going forward and range will not be anymore an issue.

Same question the new owners will have in 4 years when Gen 3 comes out.

Everything (especially phones) become obsolete shortly after you buy them......It's just how the modern world is.
But you have to jump on board with these things somewhere down the line knowing that.

More importantly, you were quite happy with your car before you found out the next new shiney had come out.
Nothing has changed for you.

What is the main improvement (or theme) of the refreshed Taycan? I think it is improved range. I road-trip a lot and I cannot safely drive anywhere near as long as my current generation Taycan can go without a rest.

With the right charging network – and here in Europe IONITY is well on it's way of being very capable – the current range of the car is almost a non-issue.

I think this was brought home very much by this slide from the Porsche deck:

Despite all the new capabilities of the refreshed Taycan and the older generation requiring two additional charging stops – there was only 40 mins difference in this long drive.

And they were probably timing this with multiple drivers. In a real-world situation – taking proper rests and eating food – seeing sights – the difference is minimal.

Heck – all the new fast charging tech is only cutting about 3 minutes off each session – and then only if the charger is delivering an ideal amount of power – which many of them – with load-balancing at a busy station – will not!

From my perspective, what makes the refreshed Taycan great is that firstly it shows Porsche's commitment to the J1 platform. As @f1eng often points out: Porsche has not developed their own platform from the ground up too frequently!

And secondly, everything has improved by an expected amount within the five years since the original platform was designed. It's not this increment that excites me. It's that clearly have not tapped out EV's potential. We're stepping our way to a 1000km range and a sub 10 minute charge time. We're heading for truly insane levels of performance and power. Probably so much so, that regulators are going to have to step in!

And when that happens – ICE is done for – except in specialist applications.

I hear they make pretty decent paperweights.

Seriously though, don't sweat it and part and parcel of EV ownerships...there's always a better one.

What to do? Quit thinking about it ?

Have your journeys suddenly started being 40km longer since the new model was released?

The car you have still does all it did when you bought it, which was presumably enough to meet your needs.

Get rid of new shiny mania. The manufacturers rely on you being addicted to it.

I absolutely love my Taycan Turbo. Granted, I've only had it just over 2 weeks but it is a thing of beauty both inside and out.

I knew the Taycan refresh was coming out but I was happy to get a good deal on the current one, knowing that range is nowhere near as big a thing as everyone seems to make out. I mean, how often do I go more than 200 miles? And on the odd occassion when I do, is it really a big thing that I have to charge for half an hour (tops)? Definitely not.

Even if the new Taycan had been a proper looker (which I personally don't think it is!) I'd still be more than happy with the Gen 1 because it is beautiful in its own right. It ticks all my boxes and the release of a (am I allowed to say uglier?!!) new version doesn't change that.

We are all lucky to be able to own such a fantastic Porsche. Let's all just enjoy it!

Why frustrated? Your Taycan did not change. I presume you got what you agreed to pay for. Does your Taycan drive any worse because someone else can order one with more range?

For those who always the latest model of the car they drive, but don't want to do 1 year leases, may I suggest a 1927 Model T? ;)

This was the big thing for me. And as you note, will have been optimally tested.

40mins across over a 750+ mile trip across 3 countries or more. It really isn't relevant.

It may benefit those who can't charge at home, but EVs probably aren't for them anyway.

Never mind the range which is much longer

what about the price!!! Seems like a massive increase

I’m due to change my Cross T 4S in a few months, for the same specification but useable range it seems like a 15% increase

with residuals so poor, if someone buys a Taycan they will lose a fortune in 3 years time
