New Porsche Taycan first drive: real-world range test (Autocar)

Despite the title, I didn't see any mention of the tested real-world range...but I found this bit interesting:

"All of which, says Giek, is why we can’t expect a sub-2000kg Taycan in the near future: “Not with current tech. You have to use carbonfibre, but then it’s not a Taycan any more, then it’s a special car. And then we have to talk about quality…”

A totally stripped-out Taycan is unlikely to make good on the sporting luxury credentials that have cemented the model line’s global popularity over the past four years, particularly in the crucial Chinese market."

Porsche is trying to expand their total addressable market to the females.

In China, you see a disproportionate female Porsche owners/drivers in comparison to the west. White boxster with red roof and interior and diamond sparked license plates? Check.

The list goes on.

The frozen berry and baby blue taycan? Yep, for the ladies.

You're kinder than I am on that color. I described it in another thread as "chewed bubblegum". I'd much sooner rock Rubystar or Moongem.

I actually considered Moongem for a bit, because it is the color of my cat after jumping around a bit and getting the blood vessels pumping, who is sort of shaped like a Taycan (she's a Sphynx, so you can see the curves pretty clearly).

I've picked black, white, silver, grey over the years (though I did also have a very yellow Lancia for over 20 years), but as I become more and more grey, I crave colourful objects to compensate. Normally my wife tones me down, but I was amazed to discover I'd ordered my Taycan in her favourite colour.

200 if you’re lucky - I’ve just charged mine in my garage and got 179 full 100% charge! It’s been round about that all winter! The car itself is fab but the range lets it down badly! Like you though, I’ve got used to it.

That's the one. Current PTS configurator calls it "Moongem" (or at least it did last year).

Who knows what colors will be around when we order next, but if we were ordering today, we’d probably get Provence. It’s my wife’s DD, so she picks (I was showing her the other day and she liked it), but I’d like it too; I like colors on cars. Better than black/gray/silver/white.

Some kids were walking by our house as I was pulling in yesterday and I heard one of them exclaim to the others “That’s the house with the blue, green, and red Porsches!”
