My car is having a few things done and I have a new Taycan 4s CT courtesy car for the next couple of days.
It has regular glass and 21" rims.
After the first hour in it, I think Thermally & Noise Insulated Glass and 20" wheels is definitely the way to go.

The ride on my car with "20 inch Offroad Design Wheels", feels so much nicer around town and is significantly more compliant on the UK's crappy roads.
My car is also very quiet with "Thermally & Noise Insulated Glass", which is very noticeable on the motorway. Whereas the courtesy car is nowhere near as pleasant to drive with a lot more rear road noise in particular.
Not sure if this is mainly down to the bigger wheels or glass, but suspect both.

So, IMO if you're deciding on a new Tayca's spec, go for the smaller wheels and noise insulated glass.

Suspect it's more to do with the rubber and not the glass IMHO. Road roar predominately comes through the cabin via the wheel arches where the only variable you have is the rim size and tyre selection. Larger rims / fatter tyres = more road noise.

I have the fancy glass and the 21” wheels. For the glass, I actually value the thermal properties most…especially in summer. The noise reduction properties are not significant enough for me to have bought it for this property solely. For the wheels, I love the 21” so much, that I intentionally gave up some comfort for them. That said, with air suspension on the CT, the ride comfort is still really good.

The windshield does let a lot of heat through in my car; far hotter than the glass roof, but I find the noise very minimal with the regular glass and 20" tires on my sedan.

I can confirm that the fancy glass does reduce the cabin noise level nicely, regardless of tire/wheel choice.

I have the thermal/acoustic insulated glass with 20" wheels and spec'd it that way in order to get the quietest environment for the Burmester audio system. If you plan to spend $$$ on a Burmester system, which I really love, I recommend spec'ing the special glass. And by the way, I am very impressed at how quiet and squeak-free the chassis/suspension is. For me the next challenge is to find the quietest tire available for the car. I love the Michelin Sport 4's, but as they wear, they get very noisy. On the other hand, have found the Pirelli winter tires to be very quiet.

Pirelli pzero elect are pretty quiet even with my 21s. According to reports here, they do wear faster than the Michelins though.

I am wondering whether the new N-spec Hancooks are worth a look?
Apparently, they are installed on the new Taycans.

Crazy how a 100k+ car doesn’t have TNIG as standard , I have it and it’s super quiet especially compared to wind noise in wife’s new Range Rover

Due to cost, weight, and the impact to sending/receiving signals, I am not surprised that the fancy glass is optional.

I was 'lucky' enough to test drive a normal (4s) taycan with and without the noise insulated glass, and it was noticeably noisier. Whilst recently I had a Turbo loaner without this noise insulated glass, it was largely the same as in my Turbo with that glass. My theory is that the "thermal insulated" glass that is on Turbo is somehow better at noise insulation too...

I also didn't notice much noise difference between 20" (although winter tyres) and 21"...

Cell phone data problems with the glass equipped? How severe?

I have the Thermally and Noise Insulated Glass on my 2022 Cross Turismo and I have not experienced the mobile phone issues others have described.

It is lighter than the regular glass.
