I should get my Taycan delivered Monday. Just wanted to check at what speed must you be driving to lift the car, such as before approaching a speed bump, is it 20mph? Additionally, is it necessary to lift the car over every speed bump when driving in normal mode? Thanks.

You don’t have to be driving. You can raise/lower at any time. Each time you lift, you will be asked if you want to save that location for future.

You have to be going below 19mph iirc.
If you drive in normal (not low or lowered) you should be ok over most typical UK speed bumps / ramps.

Any bumps / ramps etc that may cause an issue: slow below 19mph / press raise button / save for future reference. BUT, you do need to programme in both directions if needed. AND be going <19mph.

No idea if speed bumps are that much larger/taller in the UK these days, could well be, but I drive 100% in the lowest setting ‘Low’ and regularly drive over Houston speed bumps with zero issues in 2+ years - there is the occasional one that I will diagonally straddle but even then honestly can’t recall bottoming out as yet.
PS: mine a CT - sedan may be more prone to bottoming out.

Which model? I'm OK in London using 'medium' on pretty much all but the most severe speed humps here. Mine's a Turbo, so reasonably low generally.

It's a 4S, and I'm a bit nervous about scraping. The dealership assured me it's fine, but I take their word with a pinch of salt. Perhaps it's mostly needed on larger speed bumps and ramps.

Although the nose is low, I've found it's the vertical plastic drop down guards in front of the wheels that will scrape first.

Touch wood the nose etc has been fine and it's usually the really steep ramps onto the speed tables that are the worry. That and 6'6" width restrictors ?

You need to wait for the NAV to catch-up with where you are and so there can be a lag - only relevant if you have saved a location.i generally slow right down to accommodate this and watch for the the ride height indicator to turn blue to denote that the car has been raised.

Works well and only in conjunction with air suspension.

Normal is fine generally, unless you're on a bit of a potholey farm track. Then its almost as easy to stick the car in gravel mode (if you are getting a CT?) - you get a bit of a higher ride height and don't have to slow down :)

However, I aways seem to find maximum scrape risk when you spot a sleeping policeman late, brake hard and the nose of the car dips into the bump. Not sure how you legislate for that!

I have a CT and it has been fine in normal mode over all speed bumps I have encountered so far. Even those that are just in the middle if the road where the wheels straddle either side. I did once forget I was in range mode and the car was at its lowest setting and it just momentarily grazed the bottom plastic wheel fender, thankfully. So didn't catch the spoiler or underneath the car.

What is this gravel mode? Is that where shrapnel from the potholes that freckle our roads get caught on the fabulous inside mudguard fan design ?

As long as you remember to give it the beans from time to time in reverse, it just clears itself out.

I recommend being careful in sport plus or lowest setting...I have problems bottoming out around NY, and also on the lowest setting, pot holes can damage your wheels. In sport plus, the suspension is very stiff. I cracked one of my wheels, not realizing I was in the lowest setting, and hitting a pot hole at 30 mph.

I drive over most speed bumps in my 4S in medium mode with no issues as long as I’ve slowed down, and the one time I forgot I was lowered, I did scrape the plastic wheel trim bits and hopefully nothing more that I could visibly see… I do have smart lift saved for a lot of speed bumps leading up to my estate but half the time I’m not going slow enough for the smart lift to work, and medium is still absolutely fine. I think as above it’s around 19mph and below that it’ll work.
