Concerns: Gateway control unit

Cause: A gateway control unit that does not meet the required market-specific requirements was installed in the affected vehicles.

Action: Replace the gateway control unit.

Affected Vehicles: Every vehicle is assigned to exactly one campaign scope. Only vehicles assigned to the campaign (see also PCSS Vehicle Information).

I wonder what "does not meet required market specific requirements" means. What possible requirements would Mexico, US and Canada have on the gateway that require the gateway hardware to be replaced (rather than just reprogrammed)? The gateway is essentially a giant interconnect between different buses. Did they forget to put in some regional lock enforcements in the gateways and for some reason cannot reflash them via the DoIP or CAN bus?

PS> My 2023 Taycan is not, at least yet, showing WRB6 recall as pending.

Exactly. I find it disturbing that only so few nations uphold this ban, and Porsche couldn’t be bothered until the cars arrived and weren’t admitted to the US.

My 24 I just purchased is effected by this recall and they had the replacement gateway module in stock when I signed the paperwork. But, when they installed the new gateway module it wouldn’t take any software updates. They ordered and installed another new gateway module, thinking it was just a bad gateway, and it still won’t take any software updates. They ordered another part (another module, forgot the name but he called it a rear module) after talking to Porsche and it’s supposed to arrive tomorrow, 25th. I sure hope this resolves the issue. I’m in another Taycan loaner but it’s pretty frustrating.

I also received the notification that my 24 is effected. How serious is it to have replaced? My car seems fine so I hate to drop it off and have it replaced which could take forever.

It's a quick replacement,, our issue ended up being some other module that had to be replaced. Service manager told me it was the first time they had seen our issue and normally the gateway module replacement is very easy.
