@LukeManning telling us to turn down our 40 amp charger to 30 amps to avoid overheating a substandard supply cable is an excellent safety recomendation but disappointing product announcement.

1. why do you believe this can be fixed via software update? 10 gauge wire is heating exactly as expected for a 40 amp load.
2. the measurements I took were indoor in 68F ambient temp or less on that date - and the heating is consistent across multiple charging sessions.

do you know if PCNA knows about the problem and is “working the issue” - or is still just being discussed on forums. Is PCNA engaged,but not yet ready for any official annoucement?

Right, but they are Carbon Fiber Wheels so are lighter and have a Shroud for increased range.

Again, just my guesses! I could be totally wrong on all 3 of them. I agree though that option #3 is probably the likely reason why

Yes I think it's your option 3 that's the most likely reason plus maybe they think the visual aesthetics aren't right with the open gaps in the Mission E wheels with the smaller standard 4S brakes.
The 21" exclusive wheels are most common without the carbon aeroblade option so I don't think weight saving is the reason.

At the moment no. Plan is to have more applications be downloadable to the home screen.

I'm sorry I don't have more concrete answers for you.

I don't work directly for PCNA or Porsche, so I can't/probably shouldn't comment on what they're doing.

I will try to relay all of this information that you have provided me to Porsche to try and see if I can get some more detailed responses from them.

We never honestly asked you as a Porsche Salesman selling a new model like the Taycan, what would you believe would be the most used, worth the money on the front and and good options for potential resale (i.e. what does a good 4S spec look like to you)? I know it is a hard question but since you sell them, you know what sells. Thoughts?

There is an open campaign for this. Apparently not all Taycan need this done though.

Contact your local service department and provide them with your VIN to see if your Taycan needs it.

I think Plug&Pay is probably a few years out for most manufacturers unfortunately


Spoke with my technician a little more about the PMCC. Porsche is aware of isolated issues with them. They are working on several things, one of which is a software update (again not sure what it will do exactly but hopefully something to help).

Other than that, I can't really comment on anything else to do with it. I think they'll certainly make sure that issue is addressed as quickly/effectively as possible.

I think we all expected some things to arise, especially the first year of production. I've honestly been really impressed with the way Porsche has been responding to me and trying to resolve things as quickly as possible.

I really appreciate y'all bringing up these things to me as well. Helps me for if some of my clients experience them.

Yeah. I already asked PCNA through their website contact form. No response. Asked on Twitter, they said

For more information on the available features and options for the Taycan, we must refer you to a Product Specialist at an authorized Porsche dealer. They would be in the optimal position to advise you on the likelihood of the features you are inquiring about. #PorscheCares -LS

Which is better than the nothing I heard via PCNA's web site, but not super helpful. I've asked my Product Specialist and they didn't know but said they'd try to find out from PCNA...
