When I went through the process it made clear twice that my car is already taxed until June and that, unless specifically asked to do so by DVLA, I shouldn't proceed.

I always try to keep on the right side of the tax folk so backed out.

We've had a couple of threads on it over at SpeakEV.

The original intention to short term SORN and re-tax is not needed. Just re-tax it with your V5 reference number and reg number.

Better I think to bake it in now, rather than wait if they close the 'loophole'. You never know with this bunch of cretins what stunt they'll pull next.

FWIW - Ive done our Taycan and Zoe and it takes literally under a minute to do.

You can do it online in under a minute. Honestly. Just need your V5C reference no.

Didn't work for me unfortunately I can't retax it onine.

Successful application already completed
This vehicle has been taxed or notified as off the road within the last 5 days.

Trip to the post office needed, but still worth it to save the majority of £165. We have two EV's so will do the same.

Yes I sorned online, then been trying all afternoon but it wouldn't let me re-tax it. I had no issues at the post office though so not a problem at all. I'm going to do the Honda E next.

Ahh. There is no need to SORN at all.

If you'd just re-taxed it then it would have worked. I've done 2 cars in this way and countless other folks I've chatted with.

You either need to go to the post office now or wait a couple of days to re-tax it online.

Well that must have taken me a full 30 seconds once I had the V5 in my hand. Not sure how much it will really save as mine is due in November. So initially £60. Will then depend which month it goes up each year
