New front tyres (tires!) for my GTS sport turismo

Hi all, I know this is a subjective and contentious topic but I could do with some advice on a new set of tyres for GTS please. I've done 12k miles and the front pair look done. The rear pair still have a way to go.
- Is it normal to replace the front first or do people tend to replace all 4 at the same time?
- Do I need to go to a specialist performance tyre fitter or are most tyre places fine for the job? (Should avoid my OPC because of the price they charge?!)
- And finally, what tyre should I go for? The car came with Pirelli P Zeros...

I just sold a GTS driven like a granny with 14,000 miles
All tyres were legal but close to replacement - 2-4mm
And YES the fronts were worse

The trouble with the NFO PZeros is they are immaculate dry handlers but terrible for wear

Typical original fit tyres. The GTS was marketed as the 'handling' Taycan.
All the launch press days, trials and reviews were done on dry tracks with 21" wheels and P Zeros
Porsche are not daft. The tyres were NOT built for longevity.

Chocolate tyres would last longer.
I reckon P Zeros would last 2 track days maximum.
Certainly the outside front would be down to the cord.

I would replace all four and take ANY other NFO tyre than a Pirelli. (Good Years?)
Unfortunately Michelin only available in 20" in NFO
I would even take NON NFO tyres over NFO PZeros.

Not sure it applies to your circumstances, but just in case, there is a discount promotion from Pirelli that you can use if you go with an OPC for the tyre replacement.

Also, if you are a PCGB member, you get 10% from OPC as well.

So for example, if you replace all 4 costing maybe £900 total and use OPC, you could get £90 (OPC)+£120 (Pirelli) discount... meaning your £900 is actually £690.

I have the PZeros on my RWD ST and the fronts are terrible at 15k. I'll just replace like for like sometime soon.

IMO you ideally have same all round, but it's not essential (I currently have Goodyear front and Hankook rear as am not binning £500+ of tyres for OCD purposes - I'm not driving at eleven tenths everywhere).

I hate Pirellis with a passion.

Michelin are my go to (Pilot Sport 4S)...but am trying the Hankooks to see if it helps noise and range without heavy impact on performance. 1,500 miles in and they seem good.

Kwikfit / National / Porsche - if they can supply the correct tyres then no issue / drama in getting any of these to fit, they're just tyres like any other.

As others have said Pirelli wear quicker (I'll have the same problem on my GTS later this year) and have had 20K on Michelin Sports previously on my 4S (sold car after 2 years on original set of tyres). I will always go for the same rating (NF0) but will happily ditch Pirelli (once upon a time this brand would have been aspirational!) in favour of Michelin.

Very timely, my fronts are getting near to replacement, I’m about to head from London to Croatia and expect their time will be up when I get back. I’m thinking of getting PS4s to replace the P zeros, might look at Hankook too. Rears are maybe 50% after 9k, have launched the car twice in the year of ownership!

I might to a track day when I get back to give them a decent send off ?

I swear most of the wear on the fronts has been because I have to go on full lock leaving my drive <judder judder judder>.

My 4s CT daily driver came with Goodyear's ex-factory.

Just changed the fronts as they were worn out (threads showing).
Only 12,000km (7,500miles)

CT4S. I got 8,200 on all four corners, P Zeros, changer to Goodyear to see if they are any better on mileage but are noticeable nosier. Maybe I’ll put it down to Northern Ireland roads which are not great even on A roads

Think I'll get a pair of Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S fitted by my local tyre place and then a second for the rear when they are needed.

That’s a great improvement. I’m the same, PZero and never get more than 3.0 mi/kwh on a trip. Your experience on different tyres is a good data point.

I hardly ever see anything like 3.0 miles/kWh. Between 2.6 to 2.9 is normal for me. Would love that extra range for long distance travel
