A new data analysis ranks the vehicles likely to be recalled the most and the least, putting the all-electric Porsche Taycan at the top of the list.

Online automotive search engine and research website IseeCars reviewed statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to make the recall forecasts.

German companies, ironically, own both the most recall-prone model and the least recall-prone, according to the projections.

IseeCars put the Taycan at the top of the most-recalls list with a projected 70.7 lifetime recalls, followed by the Tesla Model Y in the No. 2 spot with 66.9 recalls, and Tesla's Model 3, with 60.7 recalls.

The industry median for a vehicle is 3.2 lifetime recalls, says IseeCars, which says the 25 models with the least projected recalls should have fewer than one in a 30-year lifespan.

Models with the fewest projected recalls fall well below that. Leading that list is the MINI Convertible, with a projected 0.2 lifetime recalls. The second least expected recalls spot belongs to the Lexus models ES 300h, RX 450h and NX 300h, all with 0.3 projected recalls.

The rankings are based on NHTSA recall data for 2015 to 2024 models.
I own both a 2022 Taycan 4S and a 2023 Model Y. Every recall for the Taycan that I’ve had to deal with has involved a trip to the dealer. Every “recall” on the Model Y has involved an over-the-air software update. I haven’t received any recall notice on the Model Y that involves anything other than an over-the-air update.

The Taycan may also have over-the-air updates that contribute to its total, too, since I haven’t brought my car to the dealer for a recall anywhere close to that number. However, I have had a number of visits to the dealer to deal with recall issues. I also believe that the charger cord issue with the PMCC I have constitutes a recall, if memory serves.

Just my $0.02, but if I don’t have to bring the car into the dealer to get a recall serviced, I’m not going to hold an over-the-air software change against Porsche, Tesla, or any other car maker. Again, just my own opinion.

Ask your dealer what is the Porsche campaign code (usually 4 characters long) for the stop sale order.
Just got the campaign code from the dealer: ARB0. I can’t find anything online about it. They said the stop sale order is still in effect and otherwise don’t have any details. Quite frustrating. If anyone can find anything on please let me know!

Owning a Taycan is reminiscent of that old girlfriend where the sex was great but you had no clue what crazy thing she was going to do next!
So true!!!!

Quick update: I got more detail from my dealer and saw some screen grabs from his system that do confirm that it is a brake line/hose replacement issue; appears to be the same issue addressed by the TSB that Tooney posted and linked to earlier. Then I saw a R&T article posted today (would link here, but not sure of the forum rules) saying Taycans in US will get a recall relating to this issue in the coming weeks.

Actually, articles popping up all over about this now. Here’s a good quote I grabbed from one of them: “Porsche Cars North America recall ARB0 concerns all Taycan electric sedans produced from October 21, 2019 through June 13, 2024 for the United States market, including a number of facelifted 2025 models. All of these vehicles feature VINs beginning with W for what used to be West Germany, with Taycan production handled by a facility located right next to the assembly plant where 911s and 718s come to life.”

My dealer called me today, apparently it will be a "few" weeks before I can take delivery. Although they are aware of the issue, Porsche UK are yet to provide details of fix and replacement parts. Until that happens, they cant register my car (2024 43 in Chalk)

...it seems that not all Tesla recalls are fixable by an over-the-air update:

Thanks Tooney. Wonder when dealers will start getting replacement brake hoses and start implementing fixes of the cars on their lots that are impacted. Hopefully before August 16…
Not sure when, but Porsche and dealers are probably highly interested in the yet-to-be collected revenue from new cars held on lots with this stop sale.
Your stop sale report beat NHTSA website and the press. Thanks!

I collected my MY24 4S three weeks ago and there was no issue. I stopped by the dealer this AM and they indicated that there were no open recalls on my vehicle. FWIW, I know from past experience with my MY21 that a recall will present in the system even if it has no description associated with it. This was case with the recent battery module reprograming.

Quick further update: my dealer had reps from Porsche North America there for meetings today, and the upshot is that they expect to start implementing fixes around mid-July. Until then I guess it’s just a waiting game. Sigh.
