So I was looking for a winter tire package and found some 20" wheels in a Taycan specific fit. I was looking to order them, but the shop is telling me they won't work on the Taycan Turbo (non-S of course) because the standard 6 piston white calipers get upgraded to 10 piston calipers with the Mission E option. I can't find anything indicating this, but they sent a pic and it looks like my calipers.

I'm assuming I now need 21" wheels for winter?

Thanks!

Seems a strange comment from the shop.

I have a 2020 Turbo with 10 piston calipers with mission E wheels. But I have 20 inch winter tyres for the car. Perhaps the wheels you had settled on have some restrictions, but there are plenty of 20 inch wheels available. And Porsche also sell their own 20 inch wheels with winter tyres.

What brand of wheels were you thinking to get?

It sounded odd to me as nothing I researched showed an upgrade to 10 piston calipers with the wheel choices, but it looks like it's a thing. Do you have the specs on the 20" wheels you have?

These were the wheels I was looking at:

https://www.opewheels.com/ff04 in a 20x9" and 20x10"

What are the wheel specs (size/offsets?) I was told no 20" wheel would fit, which might just mean no 20" wheel they carry will fit.

Appreciate the help. This is turning into a bit of a pain.

I can't find a lot of info on this, but it looks like even the Turbo S has a 20" Aero wheel package used for winter and all the 2020 pics I have look to confirm 10 piston brakes.

The wheels I was looking at have a 45mm offset and the Aero wheels are 54, so they should stick out 9mm more. Any concerns with spoke clearance? This is a specific package for a Taycan, so I would think I'm safe.

20 inch wheels will fit, but the offset needs to match as well. I just asked the place I bought them from for a set for my specific car model with the large brakes. They guaranteed the fit and I ordered. Check with a good wheel store or your local professional tyre centre

I have found Taycan specific packages, but the stock Aero wheels are 20x9 with a 54mm offset. The ones I'm look at are the same, but with a 45 mm offset, so I can't think of any reason why they wouldn't fit. They are guaranteed to fit over the 6 piston calipers, but the shop isn't sure on the 10 piston ones.

i dont' have an answer, but probably related - on the new car configurator, you cannot select the Mission E wheels without upgrade to PSCB or PCCB brakes, which indicates there is some type of clearance issue with Mission E wheels on standard calipers. This is specific to the Mission E wheels and standard calipers.

But the configurator allows PSCBs to be configured with Sport Aero, Turbo Aero and Turbo S Aero style wheels.

Which 20 inch style are you purchasing?

I think this is more of a money grab by Porsche and/or Porsche doesn't want to ship Mission Es with standard calipers due to the big gap between wheel and caliper, even though the J1.2 Mission Es have less gap than the .1 Mission Es.
