Insurance paid for the “diagnosis” right? (Removal of the battery cover and seeing the pressure mark.)

So at this point no money is owed and they are refusing to return your property?

Do I have that right?

Porsche won't let the car off the lot with a damaged protection plate and will de-energize the battery to prevent it being driveable is what they state in that email.

OK so why does it cost 6800 to install a new panel that costs $150-$550?

It looks like a couple dozen screws to me. What am I missing? Is their labor cost $6000/hr?

I did some rough calculations and questionned the dealer on why it was close to $4,500 in labor - he just said 'that's the cost'. My response was 'on a serviceable part???' - 'yes' was the answer

That's not satisfying.

Not sure if it’s because of this post, but I am starting to see a lot of posts with Taycan owners experiencing a surprise bill from their dealer because of a small dent. Wondering if this is a new way for service to make easy money on their EVs since they are generally low-maintenance.

Can you hire a flatbed tow truck or use your towing allowance of your insurance to pick up the non drivable car and transport it to another more reasonable facility? I don’t see that the cover necessarily needs to be replaced before transport if this dealership is unreasonable also about the panel replacement. Of course there may be problems with this idea if it is raining at your location .

Dead cars with locked brakes can be winched onto the truck at the expense of the tires I presume.

@Maelstrom I’m sorry for you… this thread is hard to read without getting angry, can’t imagine what you are going through.

The tone of voice and the action makes me feel that the dealership is taking it personal. Really strange for a dealership connected to the Porsche brand. Curious why they are so hostile. I hope they loose a lot of sales and service appointments because of this thread.

This is a good point! AAA top tier package should cover things like that if you don’t already have it. May want to look into that @Maelstrom, unless insurance covers that tow.

That dealer is showing a great example of bad customer service. Thankfully we have the internet now so that we can all see this bullshit.

My advice is to discuss the situation with PCNA and demand immediate assistance. Due to the time limit set by the dealer (which is completely ridiculous) I would expect PCNA to also respond quickly.

I'm shocked it's legal for them to take apart your proprety; and refuse to reasmble it as it was.

If I was in your place, at that first intial insane repair sum, I would have discussed with my insurance to just write the car as a total loss, get my money for it; and make sure EVERY news outlet knows that porsche totals cars for small dents on their bottom "protective" shield:)

Because that's essentially what they are doing with this repair sums for a small dent on a "protective" shield. 70k+ inital repair cost on a car which 2nd hand start at 60k. Nice....

It is not Porsche, it is this dealership. I’m confident Porsche NA will step in soon

Those familiar with law in the US.

Considering what's gone on - Is this a good time to be considering appointing a lawyer?

I am pretty certain in the UK, with our consumer laws it would be.

Sure; but the only way Porsche would give a fuck and do something about it is if THEIR name gets trashed, not the dealership.

At the end of the day, porsche should cancel the license of dealerships like this one.

This company is run by fossils; all it takes is 1 major news outlet to pick it up, and then AI will regurgitate it on ALL news outlets, and then Porsche would actually care. Because their brand publicity would be on the line, and it would cause more damage than a DuaLipa ad can fix.

The main reason i bought Porsche is because they pride themselves with keeping the cars on the road and them fixing any Porsche to make it as good as new. This is 100% on the way to killing my belief that Porsche still values this.

Even more, it feels like Porsche is treating taycans differently than other Porsche. It's Porsche, and we service Porsche, and then it's "taycan" and we "service" taycan. If Taycan is nothing but another electric car, and it is not being treated as a Porsche by Porsche, why the f should people buy it? As has been discussed in another threads many times, technology wise they are being left in the dust by brands like Lucid, Rivian and more.
