Response from my PCNA CSR:
I am stating that our Tom Wood Porsche technicians, Service Manager and Field Technical Manager have evaluated the vehicle and advised what is needed for repair and the quote for the repair. They are in the position to advise as the experts and representatives in-person with your vehicle.

Unfortunately the response from Porsche Columbus, OH is pretty much the same. They stated the $44k (without Core replacement) is in-line with what they would charge (I supplied estimates etc.) and that given Porsche guidelines that they would replace the HV battery too. On asking if they'd do this just on a visual inspection without any supported diagnostic data I didn't get a reply

To be blunt - we're all F'ckd!!! How a car like this doesn't seemingly have sensors across this cooling equalisation platform is un-fucking-believable and how a 3.33mm dent can have such catastrophic consequences financially is also un-fucking-believable (I ran out of superlatives!!).

Any idea how that happened?
Like I said, I think they did it, but at $1200 I have bigger battles to fight. Intererstingly I did authorize them to do this repair as it was a seperate line item and they told me that they won't do partial insurance repairs. It made sense to me to do it while the car was already in pieces and I had instructed them to put the car back to a drivable state (with the initial inspection also an insurance claim)

My response to the PCNA CSR, short and to the point

Thank you for your response,

So what you're telling me is that based on some photos and no actual diagnostic data the conclusion is a $59k repair?
The absence of any diagnostic data to come up with this conclusion is potentially a strong counter point to be made by insurance, unless they accept it without asking for it. Also, PCNA response pointed out, that there was a "field technical manager", not part of the dealership crew, who confirmed that based on the external damage the battery needs to be replaced. I can assume that the evidence may be just stating that if the damage in this area is more than 3mm, then the battery system is compromised (cooling components, tray, and cells) and needs to be replaced without going through any kinds of additional diagnostics. I wonder now if insurance will cover it and this will conclude in a resolution.

This is where I’ve landed too. We all drive a car that is one rock or speed bump from being totaled.

I’m just trying to enjoy it as best I can because really what else can we do?

I wonder where the resale floor will be on this car.

I’ve never regretted buying a Porsche until now.

I get that, but if you look at the cooling line diagram there is a chance it hasn't hit the lines, bear in mind this is 0.34mm over tolerance

Makes sense and logical. I think if diagnostics data is clear then the only thing that needs replacement is the very bottom shield that was hit by the external object. The dent on the battery tray then should not be consequential to the cooling and battery components.

And therin lies the issue - there has been no diagnostic data provided and they told me that the only measurement available for that system is the inlet and outlet flow - and before anyone asks I have asked for that too as there should be a discrepancy if a line is pinched and/or crushed, once again crickets!!!

Was the 3.33 mm depth the dent depth in the protective plate?
What was the dent depth in battery case? Did it have a tolerance, or was any dent too much?
