So I've searched and googled a bunch and it sounds like the car decides how much brakes vs regen to use. My car has about 14k km (9k miles), and is a 2020 CPO Turbo. I've been driving it for about 2 months and always have the regen on, but I never seem to get anything on the meter. It never goes further than this tiny bit of green. I usually charge to 80% and drive it to some 50-60% before plugging back in.

I'm also noticing some decent squeal, especially at low speeds. Is this normal/common?

Anyways, love the car.

Thanks all.

There are two types of "regen" in Taycan.
'Braking recuperation' occurs when the brake pedal is applied. Driver has no control of braking recuperation. This form of "regen" is always on when brake pedal is depressed, until the vehicle speed is very low.
'Overrun recuperation' occurs when the accelerator is released. Driver can configure overrun recuperation as off, on, or auto.

Appreciate the info. I guess my concern on the regen side is even if I apply the brakes light, moderate or hard, the regen gauge never goes beyond the tiniest portion of green. I can understand the first couple stops of a trip or at low speeds or high state of charge, but it just never seems to indicate more than a sliver of regen on the gauge.

Yeah, that's not right. After it finishes deciding to "clean" the brakes from the first few stops you should be able to max out that regen. I'd take it in.

Try switching away from Individual drive mode. Because if you have the same setting as sport+ there is no regen whatsoever.

I mostly drive in individual, but have that setup as low, sport, sound on, regen on. I tried Normal today and pretty much the same. I have a fairly short drive (15-20 minutes), but hitting the brakes doesn't move the green any further.

The squeal I have is usually worse at low speeds, but it's definitely a squeal. Not sure how much is normal or not.

I can point out 2 things:

1. My understanding is that any Regen (built in kind that is always on or the additional regen controlled by the Regen setting) is not available for some miles/time/speed if the car has not been driven, as in your first drive in the morning after car has been standing overnight. It is possible, given your very short drive that the car does not reach optimal conditions to turn it on.

2. PSCBs (white caliper) are known to make a squeal on ICE vehicles at low speeds in dry conditions at about 10k miles and you are at 9k miles with only brake use at very low speeds by design. There is no permanent remedy, but it is recommended to pressure wash the brake discs (that become mirror like with use) and calipers to help with that issue and then also do some hard braking.

Based on the above points, you may not be reaching the conditions for Regen during very short drive to fully engage, and not doing enough hard braking to bed the brakes as they change shape over time. The worst case is that your Regen is not working properly at all and the dealer needs to verify this my reaching proper conditions for the Regen to engage and then measuring associated data points to confirm if it is working properly.

Keep us posted as you navigate these issues. I am on a 2023 TT with 9k miles with PSCBs and I have no issues with Regen with drives longer than 20 min or brake squeal just yet by following the recommendations above.

Just an update. After two months of regular driving, regen just started working as I'd expect it too. I'll keep an eye on the squeal. I always try and keep the brakes clean and wash them. Might have just needed a few hard braking episodes.
