I serached for this and can see no topics in the forum. When I open the My Porsche app and navigate to charging, there is a little red dot on the settings icon. When I select this, it has a message "Uninstall Plug & Charge Certificate". When I select it, I get another screen telling me that if the certificate is uninstalled, I can install a new one but that all charging settings will be reset. I have posted screenshots below.

Why would I want to uninstall the certificate and where would I get a new one to install? Can anyone shed light on this?

Thank you

I had this a while back and just followed the instructions otherwise the error won't clear.

It is an automated process and you don't need to source anything.

I didn't lose anything - charging history unaffected.

Certificate (digital certificate for authentication purposes) is used by the public Porsche charging service and requires to be renewed

My guess is that the service changed as of 1st September (you may have received some correspondence) and simply required the cert to be updated.

If you change the emobility charging provider and don't want to automatically continue using the current one (e.g. Porsche Charging Services), then you need to uninstall the certificate in the car. Otherwise the car will authorize charging with the installed certificate.

If a certificate is expired and you have a charging contract that supports Plug & Charge, it should be automatically installed via the DC charging station. No need to manually uninstall it beforehand. If it doesn't get installed, you once authorize with the charging card and it will trigger installation of the updated/new certificate.

Thanks for the responses. I don’t see any emails or correspondence from Porsche on this and I haven’t changed anything on the charging side to prompt this message.

If I understand correctly, what you’re both saying is I am safe to follow the instructions and uninstall the certificate. I’m in the US with electrify America as my free charging for another few months. So if I go there and plug in, it will automatically install an updated certificate. It won’t cause any issues with an invalid contract.

Thanks. I did not receive any communication to my knowledge. So it sounds like I should be ok to follow the instructions and the next time I go to Electrify America, it will reinstall the certificate automatically for me?

I didn’t change anything as far as charging goes. Every year, I get a notification to renew services - I think it is charging and the My Porsche app - which is on the anniversary of my purchase in December.

Plug and charge works well for me at Electrify America so I’m reluctant to touch anything that could interfere with that!

It sounds like you and the other poster are saying something similar that this should resolve once I do my next plug and charge session. Will give it a try.

This red dot also shows up for me. I will not delete it, as my contract is still active. Id yours is active as well, just ignore it.

Same here; just leave it alone! I had to do a reinstall procedure in Norway recently because I factory reset the PCM which resulted in the the cert getting uninstalled.

Just using the Porsche Charging Service card at an IONITY did cause it to get re-installed again. But if you haven't done a reset – best to just leave it be.

I’ve got this message and plug and charge didn’t work yesterday. Just kept failing. Spoke to Porsche and they talked me through charging via QR code. But the message won’t go and just loops when I try and uninstall and doesn’t do anything.

I went around in circles for a while and logged a ticket with Porsche (who in 4 years remain clueless about any Taycan query) and eventually the certificate step cleared. I deleted it and had the error reoccur on the app. Not used a P&C device in months and so didn't have a charging drama but the workaround would have been QR code or PAYG.

I also have the same warning. I just ignored it. For now everything still works. I'll show it to the dealer at the next appointment.

I just saw that in my app too (was about to post about it, but searching the forum yielded this thread). I haven't used Plug-And-Charge recently, so cannot tell if it still works or has it crapped out due to some certificate expiration. I'm tempted to go try at a local Electrify America to see if it still works (a hassle for me, I just keep my Taycan plugged into a 19.2KW charger whenever at home, only use DC charging when on trips, which I haven't done recently). I am leery to actually do the certificate deletion, as in my experience Porsche software is extremely fragile, likely written by cheapest programmers Porsche could find.

Come on Porsche! WTF! Get a clue (i.e. hire some engineers who know their shit) how to make products for the 21st century! I am still on year 2 of 3 or prepaid free Electrify America DC charging (the only one AFAIK that supports Plug-And-Charge). If my car needs a new cert for you to to continue to provide me the service I paid for, why doesn't it just automatically install? At the very least, why not explain this in the app, perhaps add a "renew certificate" function rather than "delete certificate"? This must be whatever lowest bidder Porsche hired which keeps popping up "You have a new notification" on my PCM but when I click the button to "Show new notification" it comes back with "No new notifications", or perhaps the same contractor who decided that I want to know whenever they load the next set of map tiles (a very annoying "feature" on trips, which cannot be disabled -obviously an engineering debug message which never got removed from production builds).

The way the PCM was described to me by a dealer: "built by 1 guy that went to pension, and now they are trying to keep it together with glue and tape". So there's that.

I don't think Porsche ever had a proper software team until very recently, and instead of re-coding the whole PCM and deploying it to the dealers for a proper update, they just try to patch whatever holes the find....

It will come with Android Automotive as per Macan EV and other brands. Step change independent of Porsche.

I can maybe save you the trouble. I have left the annoying alert without following the instructions. I went to my local EA and charged as normal with no issues and no charges. Still within my 3 years. Did I hear some people say that Porsche was offering an additional year of charging?

At first I though this might have had something to do with Tesla supercharger enablement in North America, but given people from outside N.A. are seeing the same thing, it's just another software user experience left under-designed by Porsche.
