Hi,

My factory warranty on my 21 Taycan is about to expire. Dealer has offered a 6 year extension (up to 130k miles) with $100 deductible for approx $6500. Any dealers on here willing to send me a competitive quote? Anyone else recently purchase a warranty with better terms?

Thanks

$1000 per year seems like an ok price to me. Is the warranty transferable, in 6 years a lot can happen, and I would not be certain if I keep mine that long from now.

I do not think it's transferrable, but I can get a refund on un-used portion if needed.

That sounds far better than anything I've found so far.
Any chance your dealer is willing to sell to other random Taycan owners?
(I know some dealers are so inclined, since they're making an easy commission from such sales.)

Yes, please provide us with your dealer and sales person. I'm interested in purchasing that same type of warranty for my 2022 Taycan GTS. That seems to be a very good price.

That’s a great offer, I would jump at I was offered $6500 CDN for 36 months

I'm not sure if this applies in the US but here in UK:
  • Porsche warranty is transferrable to a new owner provided the sale is private (person to person) - the seller needs to complete a transfer form to confirm details
  • The Porsche warranty expires immediately if the car is traded in to a non-Porsche dealer/trader - that dealer is not able to offer the official warranty to a new owner
  • The unused portion of an extended warranty can be refunded - but only if NO CLAIM has been made

^ In the U.S., a Porsche extended warranty is neither Porsche nor a warranty. Instead it's a third-party service plan. Some of them are sold by Porsche dealers, but they're just selling the third-party service plans like they could sell you any other good or service that is not provided by Porsche.

The agreement I have with Porsche and signed by their agent lists Safe-Guard Products Int'l. in Atlanta as the "Administrator". Any repair work will be done by any Porsche dealership, as I understand it, so I'm not unclear what practical impact of "not provided by Porsche", as you write, would have, should a Taycan repair be needed during the extended warranty term.

You do not have an agreement with PCNA.

Instead, you have a service plan agreement (not an extended warranty) with:
"Welcome to the industry-leading platform that accelerates profitability and customer loyalty. We don't just provide protection plans, we give F&I professionals the tools to ignite scalable and sustainable business growth."

Under this agreement (which utilized an independently owned Porsche dealership merely as a sales agent), Safe-Guard will pay for (either directly, or via reimbursements to you) a licensed repair facility (whether an independently owned Porsche dealership, or some other facility) to perform certain specified repairs.

All of these distinctions might end up being of no significance whatsoever.
But this isn't the same as extending the original warranty.

OK. The dealership agent described it as extending the original warranty by Porsche after Porsche determined the price point for extended Taycan warranties from its several years of seening the model in the field. I took them at their word.

^ Never take dealership staff at their word for anything! Although fortunately this is most likely a rare instance where dealership sales nonsense will have no consequences.
