Thats a good question. May just be old school telephone call only if there's an alarm.

I think the bit i'd miss is checking on the charging / battery level. However, i wonder if you could still see battery level etc via apps of smart charging services (ovo charge anytime / octopus intelligent). Big issue would be if they stopped working altogether because they also communicate with the car via same servers....

Thanks for confirming this works with the upgraded app as well. Gives me confidence to get the latest without losing the preheat/cool feature.

The Porsche iPhone app does nothing if you do not have an active (paid for) Porsche Connect subscription.

Of course my subscription ended one week before a 700mile road trip. Really contemplating re upping. Mainly for the pre heat battery nav and looking at charge status when charging and away from car.

Do we have any more data points on whether renewing Porsche Connect after the initial 3 years includes free EA charging for a 4th year? My renewal is coming up in June and I'm not sure just having use of the app is worth it (although not being able to check charge remotely sucks).

I just tested with Porsche Connect disconnected and all Apple Wireless Carplay apps work, except for navigation and car control aspect of the Porsche Carplay App. Voice control defaults to Siri through Carplay. Navigation defaults to CarPlay. Apple Maps and various Carplay charging apps (EA, Plugshare, Charge Port) are available for navigation and charge planning.

Porsche maps and other data driven updates will not be available without Porshce Connect being active. I presume PCM updates will be available at the dealer but will have to see.

Once the Connect subscription ends, the app pretty much becomes useless as it shows no data at all (battery level, trips, range, etc) - same with the website. I guess that helps me not look at the app to admire my efficiency ?

In all seriousness, the app should have the basic trip data. At least I can delete the app now.

Just saw this thread, so definitely a late reply. But yes, I had a fourth year of free EA charging and suspect the only thing that triggered it was renewing the Porsche Connect service. I did not renew it again so I can't say if that free charging would have continued but I did get an entire fourth year of free EA charging on my 2020 Turbo.

Yes I think it is included, each year I have renewed I get free EA charging. I don’t want to curse myself but the last 6-8 months the car charges to target and a little over well before the free time is up every time. A few times I didn’t even have time to go to the bathroom and stop to buy a fresh coffee.

How did you verify that you had the additional year of EA charging?

I just paid my $319. I went a couple of days without it and I use the programmed precool twice a day and being in FL I am hitting that pre cool button anytime I am walking to the car from a store to get it cool (I always park way out in the parking lots). I also use the "direct charging" toggle as I will come home low on charge and want to get some charge on it in case I need to run out, but then switch it back so it auto charges to 85% overnight. I like the widget for a quick look at my car status and there have been a number of times I have unlocked or locked my doors remotely with the app.

As a comparison, my wife's Jeep Sirius Guardian service was $27 a month (so same as Porsche) for remote start, and location map and it was slow, not always accurate and I could not precool.

I just renewed the Connect service as my initial free 3 year subscription is due to run out at the end of this month on my 2022 4S.

In order to get the additional free year of EA charging, do you have to sign up for the 'free' Porsche Charging Service as well?
