Wanted to ask for advise on what is the best course of action after a low speed collision.

I was parked in a queue of traffic with the auto hold on, when the car in front rolled back into my front end.

Low speed impact - probably 10mph and on initial inspection no damage. I took her details and some photos then continued onto Porsche (car was due in for a new tyre).

We looked at the car in more detail and can see a hairline crack across the front bumper - ouch...

Called my insurance company to report the issue - Admiral - they have said its a no fault accident (but I don't have a dashcam or witnesses) and passed me onto somebody called Auxillis. Auxillis aren't sure if they have any Porsche approved bodyshops and I've read a few horror stories about the company charging a huge amount for car hire. This is making me nervous and I don't like this idea.

I can go back to Admiral and I pay the excess myself and they try to claim it back. They will also use Porsche approved.

Or, could even avoid all the drama of insurance companies and just get it sorted myself. I've added a picture of the hairline crack - but have a feeling that it might need a new front bumper...

Just looking for advise really

If it's just the front apron, probably ~$3K for a new one painted, installed, sensors recalibrated. If there is damage underneath, or to sensors (not sure what you have), price will go up.

How/why do you engage a hand brake when in Drive?
edited now, but was just an old fashioned way of saying that the Auto Hold was on.

I've just had my car undergo some minor repairs after it was clipped by a van when it was parked. Luckily a car travelling behind managed to grab a photo of the culprit and shared it with me (yes there are some decent people about still!).

Car is through a sal sac work scheme and insurance broker was Lloyd Latchford with the policy being with Aviva.

Lloyd Latchford pushed me straight to their claims management company but they offered me the option of going straight to the insurer (Aviva) directly.. I went this route.

Aviva used M & A Coachworks for the repair (https://www.macoachworks.co.uk/manufacturers/porsche/). They are a Porsche factory approved repairer and I have to say their service was excellent. The car was collected, repaired and returned in 10 working days. it looks like new. I had a small crease dent and scuffs to the front corner which were all resolved without part replacement... I have to say I've now watched many a pointless dent removal video on YouTube now :D

you'll be surprised what they can repair without part replacements!

as my place was '3rd party fault' as well, M&A offered a like for like courtesy car via Manor Car hire and I was using a GTS ST for the period my car was with them. I was dubious when offered, especially as the insurance claim had not established liability formally. The rates for the GTS were around £700 a day! which I was worried I'd be landed with if there was a claim issue... those are now all added to the 3rd party's bill.

I had to pay the excess on completion of the works by M&A which I am now in the process of claiming back too. Annoyingly Aviva have put me through to the legal cover team who will process this part... all in all it's a pain for something so simple! having to deal with broker, claims management company, insurer, repairer, car hire, legal team... on hindsight, I would now just have used the claims management company to do this all for me.

even more frustrating is knowing the 3rd party insurance provider is Aviva too!

if liability is clear and you're not expecting any issues from the party which rolled into you, I'd go down the claims management company route... will keep it simple. Do insist on getting the repair work done where you're happy to do so.. M & A were great and a few before/after pics below

This is super helpful thanks

Decided to go down the insurance option rather than accident management company as they also used Porsche approved and then will need to reclaim the excess

I had a couple of no-fault issues (not with a porsche though) - and both times I just rung the insurance company of the 3rd party directly, who were only too eager to please to prevent me from going to a claims company that is designed to milk them out of money. Last time they even gave me £100 "bonus" for sticking with them, and £500 in lieu of the hire car - which I was only too happy as we didn't need to use the car whilst it was repaired.

Sounds like a bit of a stressful situation, but it's good you took the right steps by getting the details and photos. Even though you didn’t notice any damage initially, I'd recommend checking again just to be sure. Sometimes low-speed impacts can cause hidden damage, like misalignment or dents that aren't obvious right away. Also, even if there’s no visible damage, it might be worth giving your insurance a call to report the incident. Some insurance policies cover minor accidents, and it's better to be safe than sorry, especially if something crops up later. If you're unsure about how to proceed or if you run into any issues, you could reach out to a lawyer like eastvale injury lawyers for advice.

Car is all repaired now, but the 3rd party is claiming they didn't roll back at the junction and that they didn't make contact with my car. They waiting until they realised I didn't have a dashcam then have denied all responsibility.

Insurance company investigating now as I've asked the question "if they didn't hit my car or even roll back at the junction, why did they pull over and allow me to take photos of the damage, photos of their car and they provided their details."

That is why I put a front+back dashcam in all family cars on day one. I even put one in the Taycan for the drive home from the dealer. Saved me thousands in the last few years, in deductibles and raised insurance premiums (which I would have to pay for if I couldn't prove the other party's fault).

That is truly pathetic by the 3rd party. They made a mistake, owned upto it at the time, and now try to get away with it.

Really annoys me.

Hope your insurers manage to sort this.

This has been my reaction. I'm baffled at why somebody would own up to the mistake, do the right thing by pulling over and swapping details, then deny the whole thing 3 months later once they realised I didn't have a dashcam.

Insurance company have said they will fight, but might just backdown as it will cost them more in solicitors fees to fight it than they will recover. Whatever happened before dashcams.?

Dashcam is now fitted but its all too late to help in this instance.

Unfortunately its the world we live in now. I wouldn't be without one, for situations just as you have encountered.

It is shows the unscrupulous nature of insurers. Their insurer might be trying it on, without even their knowledge.

Want to hear pathetic? An off duty cop moonlighting for a road construction company directed my teenage daughter to drive right into an opposing lane traffic, resulting in a collision. After the accident he tried to convince her it was her fault, then blamed it on her in the official accident report. He didn't count on the dashcam footage, which included his conversation with her right after the accident with him telling her she was the one who caused the accident (using a sneaky techniques of false premise questions on a poor kid, he almost had her convinced too by the time I got to the scene). One look at the dashcam footage and insurance company assigned the blame to him, then sued his company for all damages. Took over a year, but they won (I know this because I couldn't get my $1,000 deductible back until they paid for damages).
