Advice from Taycan CPO buyers about CPO +1

Hi all, as I inch closer to a CPO Taycan, curious if anyone has added the extra year of warranty coverage in the US. How much was it? Is price negotiable? Does it need to be done at the time of purchase from where the car is bought? Thanks!

Yes I got it and it was $2700. I negotiated the price of the car down by another $$2500 from their recently reduced advertized price, so I just paid full price for the cpo extension.

And did you do that after the purchase or during? I'll assume Porsche is happy to take our money after the car is bought.

Did it after about 3 years of ownership.....I knew I was keeping the car and did not like being w/o factory warranty (at 4 year point)

Yes, this is the kind of vehicle that almost requires additional coverage seeing it pretty much needs to be serviced at the dealer. Thanks for your insight.

I'm curious. Why buy a +2 year CPO rather than say Porsche vehicle service plan (so called 'extended warranty')?

Purchased my CPO + 1 for $2700 as well. Was told they would not be able to discount it and I could only purchase the +1 on the day of purchase.

The add'l CPO period is an extension of the original factory warranty.

The Porsche-branded Safe-Guard plan is sold via independently owned Porsche dealers but is a contract between the Taycan owner and Safe-Guard, with the hope (please pretty please!) that Safe-Guard and the service department of the independently owned Porsche dealer (especially if the business office of that same dealership was the sales agent) will place nice with one another.
Any such contract is not an extended warranty (even though I've probably been guilty too of referring to it as such).

I also just purchased a 2022 CPO Taycan and also purchased the CPO+1 for 2700 as well. The car still has factory warranty until December 2025 so with the 2 years from the dealer plus the year I purchased I'm covered until December 2028. Just a little more peace of mind.

Last December, as a Dutch citizen, I purchased a second-hand Porsche Taycan from a Porsche dealer in Germany. The car came with a standard 1-year Porsche warranty, and I added two additional years at the time of purchase for a total of €2,500, approximately $2,600.

No such options are available in America.
You can instead buy a service plan from Safeguard that is branded by Porsche and sold at independently owned Porsche dealerships.
Or buy a similar plan by Fidelity and sold by many different car dealership chains.

That's all my dealer offered....

I "bought" a 2 year CPO extension to my (new car) 4 year warranty...dealer offered it and I took it: about 4K..so now have a 6 year factory-backed warranty.
