Anyone else find reversing a Taycan in the dark almost impossible

Is it just me, or is the Taycan the hardest car in the world to reverse at night?

If it's dark and there's no street lighting, my reversing light turns on but doesn't project enough light so I can clearly see where I'm going. It's about as useful as a tiny candle!
The only way I can get enough light to see obstacles is to press the brake peddle.
And the very expensive surround view camera gets a 1 out of 10 for nighttime use, so offers no additional help.

Given its size and value I find this to be a real PITA.

Not really.

Between the camera, radar and mirrors I've not had any issues thus far.

(Cameras are semi-useless at the moment as they get scruffed up quickly).

Back in the day before any on board cameras existed I used to switch on hazard flashers reversing in pitch black. I haven't tried it on my Taycan but would give it a go in the right circumstances.
I find the camera system of moderate use, so usually look around like I used to in 1968

Last week, I reversed parked on a pitch-dark street with no streetlights. The parking was more or less an educated guess, aligning my car with the one next to me. I think the camera doesn’t have enough light to assist with the parking. As a former Tesla Model S driver, I’m familiar with this issue; however, in the Tesla, you have the aftermarket option to upgrade the reverse lights to brighter versions.

I do not think it's the hardest ever. But I have reversed it in the dark and rain, with as boot so full I could not see out of the back window. And it did not go well. And I was using mirrors etc.

I Agree. GTS Sport turismo, same pain especially in the dark and raining. reverse camera too dirty... the 3d View cameras is the only option I miss ...

You're not missing out on much - the surround view cameras are quite hopeless in the dark.
(Great on a bright day though.)

Ah so dark affect also surround. I wonder if someone will retrofit a night vision or infrared camera, nowadays they are not that expensive ...

I agree. It is not good in the dark. Surround doesn’t help a bit. My ‘21 Audi A3 is much better under the same circumstances

Totally I agree. I got used to the strange warped view. But in the dark the reverse camera (including top down view) is indeed barely usable. On my old Plaid it was definitely better. The Fiat 500E of my wife also does better in the dark.

The front camera in comparison is great though. Thats something I missed on the Plaid.

Agreed....backing up in the dark is a scary situation....especially when trying to miss other parked cars.

Also totally agree!
Reverse in dark, cam is dirty, cleaning helps for like 3 seconds, is a pain.
