Thanks for everyone’s feedback on the $3,000 maintenance quoted me in Vancouver! If it was $750 to $1,000 for the 2 year service I would grin and bear it and pay it but $3,000 that seems just like a cash grab and rip-off which everyone here seems to agree with.

I purchased my 2023 Taycan in May 2024 with original warranty and CPO warranty until May 2029 so I want to make sure I do the proper maintenance to maintain the full warranty until 2029 but not get ripped off in the meantime.

There are 3 Porsche dealers in the Vancouver area and I have received quotes of $2,850 and $3,000 from 2 of the dealers and I will follow up with the third dealer next week. I bought my Taycan from Kelowna Porsche which is a 3 hour drive from Vancouver and I will actually be taking a trip to Kelowna in April so I will give them a call for a quote also.

Thanks again to all the forum members on here!

It's interesting to how the internet is killing the "we can charge whatever we feel the customer can afford" business model of some dealers.

$3000 for a brake fluid change seems excessive. Brakes rarely used, anyone change them at 4 year point?
This is a prescribed maintenance obligation from Porsche, together with replacing the air conditioning fluid and should be carried out once every 2 years, or during a maintenance service. I don't understand it either, but if you don't have it carried out, your factory warranty expires. In my opinion, just a money-making scam.

Not at that price. When I was ordering my Taycan, IIRC the price was $750USD to pre-pay for 2 year service, or ~$950USD if you pay out of pocket later. $3,000 ($2,115USD) seem like a rather large markup.

That is correct, 3000 dollars seems a lot to me. But the IIRC 750 dollars mentioned is excluding the replacement of this mandatory brake and air conditioning fluid. So in total I came to about 1300 Euro (= 1400 dollars) and for the US you have to add the Trump import costs (25%) :like::like:, so you still come eround 1750 dollars for minor maintenance.:crying:

There is no Trump import costs for Canada (which is where this $3,000 came from).

Little Joke :like:, but I thought your are located from USA (see you flag and location).
I figured it was a dig at American politics circus, but not applicable to the OP. ;) My location is US, OP location however is Canada.

They've got this wrong!

Should be the equivalent of £700 or less.

Fluid change is mandatory 2 years or 20K miles. Depending on how the brake hose recall is performed they may replace anyway and therefore not chargeable.

Can't answer specifically for Canada, but in the UK the current scam is to "suggest" a drains check which "is optional but your warranty might be voided if you don't do it", for a price ranging from £300 to £1000 (!) on top of the first and second service prices. Phoning around usually produces a dealer who charges £0 (although presumably that carries the risk that they may then decide to do some expensive work if the drains are blocked.)

The whole thing is leaving a very nasty taste around the Porsche brand and the tactics of their dealers.

Another possible option is to find a good local independent shop that works on Porsches and see if they can do the work. They will be far cheaper and they should also have the right equipment to do the job.

I think the dealers realized these electric cars will not come in as much as ICE cars and are making up the difference by making the service cost ridiculous. If you are a DIY person, there's nothing you can't do on the standard servicing on your own. Just take it in for the recalls a couple times a year for a free look-over. If you are not a DIY, you can probably have an independent shop change your brake fluid, cabin filter, etc. for a lot less.

DYI is not going to work since the dealer needs to record the service for warranty compliance and reset service minders and I am pretty sure they run a VAL or other data collection and submit to corporate. As I mentioned, a few things can be done DYI to lower the cost such as Cabin Filter, Windshield Washer Fluid, Wipers, key FOB battery. I think 2020-2021 had the drain plug issues (simple fix is to remove the membrane filter from them) but that should be covered under a TSB and should not be for charge inspection, which seems to be very common in the UK.
