My point is that one cannot predict what this car may turn out to be. Given the fact that the owner hasn’t even got their car and it’s already broken, the best what they can do is go away and find another Taycan. You simply miss the point.
I will have to disagree with you on that one. Walking away and finding another Taycan has the same statistical chance for ending up with a nightmare scenario as yours (you have no idea if that car didn't have its 12V battery run out the previous day, then was jump started for example). It's still a very small chance, but no different than staying with this one.

I get it, you were burned, and you brain is trying to identify patterns (and you're probably wanting to vent a little too, totally understandable). I suspect given a choice of 2 Taycans which are identical but only differ in color, you might argue the one of them has a greater chance of ending up a nightmare purely because it was the same color as yours was. It's one of our human brain's unconscious biases.

It’s a mix of everything. It’s not the first time I have such an experience and my suggestion is purely based on that. Thus, I suggest to go away and find another car to minimize risks of having a car that may require a lot of visits in the future. Finding another one definitely won’t guarantee that it will be trouble free though.

I got Mamba Green in the end but Frozen Berry was my other choice, lovely colour.

Does the car lock and unlock using the key buttons? If it does the 12V -may- be low but hasn't gone into self protection and needs driving a while to get the 12V battery charged or a lithium battery charger connecting - the instructiuons on how to do it are in the manual - have a look and see if you are happy to give it a go. I have a CTEK Lithium XS charger.

Regarding PCM login --
  • Step 1 - Set up a Porsche.com account at this link.
  • Step 2 - While logged in, go to the Profile page and add your info, including a Credit Card under "Payment Methods". You'll need a credit card for charging at Electrify America stations using Plug & Charge.
  • Step 3 - After a bit of time (maybe a few hours) try logging in on your car using your new Porsche.com credentials.
If this doesn't work, then off to the dealer you go!!

P.S. Love the color ?
YOU ARE A GENIUS! IT WORKED!

God, if only my wife felt the same way…
Got another question: I set up a profile to with the minimum charge at 85%. I woke up this morning to a fully-charged battery. How do I stop it at 85%?

By design (let me narrow this down to US only) if built-in General Profile configured as Enabled, Location independent, with Optimized selected and set to 85%, the car will start charging right away and will stop at 85%. This assumes Direct Charging is not checked. App and Car charging settings are fully in sync and match.

Double check the above and if not sure what that means, post pictures of the settings from the App and we can troubleshoot from there.

I beg others not to jump in with exception theories as we are helping someone new to the Taycan and starting what we know works by design. However, if this does not work as designed, then we will get into workarounds.

I definitely did not have "optimized" selected.

That would explain it - not going to go into the details why, but I know why.

Please do more tests with lower SoC (for testing purposes) than 85% to verify that when the Profile is set as I described, the charging stops at the level set and does not go to 100%.

It doesn't surpass the 85% threshold. It works perfectly. So much to learn... ?

You are welcome. We can share a lot more when you are ready, such as a benefit of using a Timer function. Please enjoy your new Taycan and come back for any more questions.
