Thanks, but I should have mentioned that the charger will not connect to the mothership via the house network, nor an iPhone cell hotspot or a mobile cell hot spot which are not firewalled.

I'm starting to think the expired certificates are required to connect to the mothership. The https certificates are something else

Otherwise, the home network charger's IP address is 192.168.1.91 and the router sees it and is not reporting blocking anything to/from that address.

The charger's hot spot and PLC are inactive.

This is a server authentication error. I was confused by the no internet connection status. No internet means the charger cannot connect to the Porsche server. An interesting distraction, but thanks for helping me eliminate other possibilities.

The cert is not relevant I think. I have this on mine for 4+ years now and the untrusted cert remains.

Suggest a factory reset and start over.

I was just getting ready to suggest that you try using your phone as a hotspot. I’m glad you tried that and now that you know it doesn’t work. I agree with the other member who suggested that you do a factory reset.

according to my operating manual, this requires you to first unpair any existing user profile and then do the factory reset. Is it possible that there is some existing user profile?

I have done three factory resets. Porsche is going to get back to me Monday. The guy on the phone was puzzled why SW version 6120 didn't resolve this connection thing completely and escalated the case .

Other than the built in Home User and Customer service users, a user profile was not set up. The user profile menu item is grayed out. I never connected to it via the charger hot spot or PLC. I did add a vehicle, which cleared on the reset.

I'll have to try restarting the charger now and then in the mean time.

Try a different Porsche ID?

Did the QR code part of the setup work OK with the ID you used?

Pairing with Porsche ID requires the "internet connection" to the Porsche server that fails I've not seen a QR code or a website displayed so there is no Porsche ID associated with the charger. In other words, I don't get that far onto the setup. Subsequently profiles/pairing is grayed out.

So can't you do the setup via your phone and hotspot to bypass your home network and rely on cell connection only for setup

Beginingto sound like you have a duff software version.

The Porsche server may be rejecting the connection because of an authentication issue. I have tried setting up via both my phone and my mobile hotspot with the same results.

There are many reasons that authentication fails, the server being down is one of them. Expired certificates is another. Early in the thread there was talk about the server being down and when it came back online, life was good.

i know this old thread got bumped for connectivity troubleshooting, but charging at 19.2 kw gives me hard on.
Only comes useful maybe once a year, but it does feel great just because I can (both our EVs are 19.2kW capable, as as are their garage EVSEs).

Then again, driving a Taycan is similar since anyone driving a Taycan could be driving a much, much less expensive car, more efficiently too, and still get where they are going.

Do you have any capabilities of tapping the traffic, specifically an ability to mirror and capture the mirrored packets? It would show you what connections the EVSE is trying to establish, what DNS it's trying to resolve, etc.

When I bought my Porsche Wall Charger connect, it was in anticipation of getting the 19.2 kW upgrade the next time I bought a Taycan. Now I find that that option is not even in the configurator.

No idea why they took it out, but I sure hope they bring it back!

Yeah, but I haven't had to go there for a couple years and didn't think it would be useful given the same response on three different internet connections. I'm going to wait for tech support as its not a show stopper.

When I restart the charger I see about 19kB of SSL/TLS traffic over the internet interface out to the cloud, 12kB down 7kB up. Just dunno what it is.

Are the above rates (per second) or a one time total number of bytes transferred?

It was wholly unreliable and removed. Not an option on J1.2.

No real need to have it either if home charging overnight. You can max out your 11kW however.
