Hey Guys. A quick question:
Does anyone have any experience about the difference in acceleration between the old Taycan Turbo or Turbo S with Redshifth tune and the new J1.2 Turbo or Turbo S?

I have an old Turbo with Redshift Tune and i am thinking changing it with the new one. But of course i want something even faster than my previous turbo :)

The raw numbers :

J1 Turbo (s) with Redshift : approx 800 ps all the time
J1.2 Turbo : 707 ps all the time and 884 ps overboost
J1.2 Turbo S : 775 ps all the time and 952 ps with overboost

Thanks in Advance

Get the GT then ? Any of these is too fast for normal legal roads anyway.

the GT is 1087hp for 2sec or something with lunch mode

all j1.2 have a stronger rear motor and stronger invertor to draw more power from battery

I know that is the clear answer :). But no used Taycan GTs here yet. I need to wait :headbang:

Launch Control (10 sec): + 242 hp for total 1,019 hp
Overboost (2 sec): + 73hp on top of Launch Control for a total of 1,092 hp

Turbo GT: 0 - 60 mph in 2.2 sec
Turbo GT with W package: 0 - 60 mph in 2.1 sec

Quite a few reported times below 2sec, so they are over delivering in this case also. I've seen 1.89 and 1.78 from what I remember (good day, correct wormed up tires, etc etc)
Even without W package, I believe the real world number is 2 or below 2.

For sure. I was just copying the numbers from the official article in the Porsche Magazine.

Lunch mode: I'd love that option; is it when you're hungry and the next McDonalds is 50Km down the autoroute, simply press a button on the dash and all the traffic disappears....?

To reply to the posters question with a question: what are you missing out on?
As a Turbo S driver I find its not straight line speed that does it for me (although its significant, fun and its there on demand), its just too easy to point the car straight and press go. I spend a lot of my driving time (<3 seconds!) backing off just before/after I (allegedly) get into criminal speeds. It's Switzerland after all, really enormous personal restraint required. I could toast most things at the traffic lights but I'm not 19 years old anymore! :)
On the autoroute I regularly get over taken by plumbers vans, Minis, Audi S3's and Cupras, what ever...... and then the mountains come and things get twisty. All that massive instant torque, big warm tyres and, optioned up, the Taycan corners flat like a billiard table....

Ask yourself, when was the last time you drove full send on a challenging road? Altitude (ascend and descend), hairpins, changes in road surface/camber, dry v's wet. Did you fully exploit the instant torque in the car? Cornering: did you feel the benefit of PTV and RWS? Brakes: getting fully outside of regen, PCCB, incredible.

The last time I was driving in Athens I think we made max 70 kmh leaving town in mostly slow traffic, the road to Patras was a single lane death race of delivery trucks and Fiat Puntos.

So newer is usually better, just ask yourself why you want it and when you get it what are you going to do with it....

Agree with Argo. Whenever I overtake anything I have to brake back down to the speed limit as soon as I pull back in and it would be even more braking with more acceleration. Unless you are planning track use there’s not much you can do with that sort of power on public roads IMHO

Thanks guys for your opinions. I know that the Taycan Turbo (with Redshift Tune) is already powerful enough for everyday use in local roads.

Better not to burn more money in Taycans :whew:

@Argo Thank God the road to Patras is completely new as most of the highways in country.
but previous, as you say, it was extremely dangerous... :lipssealed:

A Redshift tune on a J1 Turbo is equivalent to a J1 Turbo S in 60-130mph, but Turbo S is about .05 faster in 0-60mph.

The bigger benefit of the J1.2 is the suspension, especially if you get the PAR and the better battery chemistry.
There is more power on tap if tuned with that new battery chemistry.

You can get a lower variant on the J1.2, tune it and have a better all around car than a J1 Turbo

if you don’t tune the J1.2 Turbo or Turbo s, how is it comparing with J1 turbo (with redshift) in highway acceleration?

In general the J1.2 lower variant will be more powerful than the J1 variant above.
So a stock J1.2 GTS will have more power than a stock J1 Turbo.

IMO the tune is a trivial cost and should be applied to any Taycan, regardless of platform or variant.

The J1.2 has a lot more potential to get increased power due to improved battery, larger rear motor.

60-130mph is the most important data point for Me because that's where we drive spirited the most

Quiz:
You are approaching this corner at 80KPH, which of the following will you be needing in the next 0.1 seconds:
  1. An extra 100 BHP/push to pass
  2. 0.2 seconds off your 0-100kph time
  3. Apple Car play
  4. More range
  5. New underpants
  6. None of the above
