Hi, everyone - I plan to consolidate my 2023 Panamera Turbo S and 2023 Taycan GTS into a a single new car, but would appreciate some advice.

The Panamera is luxurious, unbeatable for a long drive, and sounds glorious with the V8, but the hesitant throttle, less sharp handling dynamics, and vastly less talkative steering relative to my GTS suggest that, if going from 2 to 1, I should go with a Taycan. Nothing is better in terms of daily-driving in traffic, and I have a 911 for fun weekend drives.

My plan is to get a J1.2 Turbo or Turbo S. The Taycan GT is a potential candidate, but I’m leaning in favor of the less extreme Turbo trims. I thought about the new GTS, but the performance step-up is too modest relative to the large $ investment required to upgrade. If I’m going to do this, I want a leap in performance.

Frustratingly, though, there is a paucity of in-depth reviews of the J1.2 Turbo and Turbo S models. The Turbo GT sucked up all the oxygen at the top of the range, and the mid-cycle-refresh reviews tended to give superficial treatment to the difference between the trims. None of my local dealers has both cars available to test drive.

Does anyone have real seat time in the J1.2 Turbo and Turbo S? (I’d definitely tick the box for the active suspension, FWIW.) Is the performance increment between the two significant and obvious while driving? It appears that the Turbo S has a larger inverter than the Turbo, allowing for significantly more torque, albeit at the cost of some efficiency. If anyone has a 2025+ Turbo S, what kind of real-world range are you getting? If someone here has time in a J1.1 GTS and a J1.2 Turbo or Turbo S, I’d love to hear whether you get the same tactile steering and sharp turn-in that you get in the GTS.

I’m considering the Taycan GT. It does have some pluses. Depreciation on any of these cars will be savage, but for the TGT perhaps somewhat less so. And there’s something undeniably fun about getting the monster version. But I don’t love the restricted options on the TGT and that its 900-amp inverter eats into the already-modest boot / trunk space. Also, the optics are a touch aggressive for what will be my daily driver, parking at work, etc. But if anyone here compared the Turbo (S) to the TGT and thought the latter significantly better / more exciting, then I’d be all ears.

Thank you, all!

Will recommend used.
2025 TGT, preowned, can be found $80-100k off the msrp plus CPO.

I think the .2 Tx is a styling mess with its front shovels and fake rear vents, although the TGT milk mustache makes some sense.
Even so, the TGT doesn't offer NVA if you like that.
The 4 through T can be tuned to the same level, so my choice will probably be a `27 4S with PAR.

I can help with this data slide that shows power differences between J1.1 vs. J1.2 including Turbo vs Turbo S. I think if you are consolidating with a goal of being a comfort car, then definitely a Turbo or Turbo S should be the choice over GT. My choice would be a Turbo with PCCBs with Turbo exclusive cosmetic bits. Keep us posted what you end up with and post the build details.

I tried to explain what this chart shows but did not do a good job. This chart shows differences between J1.1 and J1.2.

For example, right most graph:

J1.1 Turbo S = 460kW with J1.2 Turbo S +110kW = 570kW without Launch Control and +70kW with PtP
J1.1 Turbo S = 560kW with Launch Control but J1.2 Turbo S is +140kW = 700kW with Launch Control

This is another graph of its kind that is clearer, but the OP wanted J1.2 Turbo vs. Turbo S.

Thanks... those are kW measures not HP :)

Edit: fixed typo as pointed out by @SergeyIndy below.

kW is a measure of power output and translates into Nm or hp. This is not to be confused with kWh which is battery capacity measure. hp conversion is 1kW x 1.34 to get the hp equivalent.

We had a 2025 turbo ct for 300 miles and 48 hours. We had several faults and returned the car. We have been lent a 2025 GTS which is much better balanced
with no problems. We now have a brand new GTS with Par on order. I agree with d00d in regard to the styling. I understand how they are trying differentiate the turbo vs lower grades but it actually looks cheap. You also can’t beat the GTS interior or price.
