Rattling noise caused by Mid Base Woofer on Driver Door

Talked to Porsche today:
The inlays "pop-off" (was warned that they sit tight).

My solution will be to take off the carbon-inlay, as it clearly is identified to produce the rattling.
I will put felt-strips on the backside to cushion it.
Problem will be solved than.

1. There seems to be a combination between clips and fixed connections:
My attempt to lever it of made one "plug" break.
I stopped after 1/3 of the way into the panel.

2. the carbon is very tight along the leather. Very likely to harm the leather.

However: I got a gap of around .75 inch wide and succeeded to insert some thick 3M 2-sided stickers around 2-3 inches inside.

Going to check later if that at least brought some success.

Did this help? Which material did u insert exactly? Can you describe what you did to attempt removing the carbon inlay...i wamt to do the same...the rattle is such a pity...same here, both sides!

Will likely follow u shortly thereafter...thinking of taking the whole side panels off...seems easy...perhaps then from the back of the whole panel to address the rattle issue.
I drive a cross, hopefully not too much different from the sedan in the video.

I was scared to remove that carbon fiber trim panel because I wasn't sure if it was plastic welded on on the back or if it was held in by clips. So, instead, I took a hotel key card which is thin enough to slide in from the end and "tighten" the whole panel. First I slid the card in, marked how far it would go and then pulled it out and trimmed it just a few millimeters shorter. Then I pushed it back in and used the extra bit of card to push it it to make sure it went all the way in and was out of sight. So far, my rattle in the panel is gone.

Have you tried fading to the rear, so the fronts have less volume to cope with? That may allow you to get the volume higher.

I had some rattles from the doors at higher volumes too, and I removed the passenger front door car in order to add more sound deadening. From the factory, there's a strip of CLD (constrained layer damper, basically some butyl rubber bonded to a sheet of aluminum) stuck to the outer door skin, running almost the length of the door. Adding more of this (I got mine from Resonix, but there are many options) does make a noticeable difference when tapping on the doors with a knuckle, so it should make some difference to the way the system sounds. I also put this on the door cards themselves, then put everything back together.

(An aside: if you do remove the door cards, which is easy enough, do disconnect the 12V battery first, otherwise as I discovered you'll end up with stored faults that will prevent the egress warning system from working.)

I still have to do the driver's side, and revisit the passenger side because I believe I've got the buzz mentioned in the TSB above where the mid-range speaker is contacting the grill. So I'll be adding the washers it describes.

Does this make the Bose system sound better? Not dramatically. It's a bit of a lackluster system as a whole. But the rattles are really unpleasant, and getting rid of them might only be a first step for me, we'll see.

Very good! This may the easiest solution...well done. Can you indicate roughly where you did the inserts...("from the end").....which side/location exactly...ai may try this first....or take the whole door panel off regardless.

Do you perhaps have the instruction on paper on how to exactly remove the door panel?

On another note I got a rattle near the rear light/trunk space as well (cross turismo), i think this has sth to do with the rearlight casing not being firmly attached or so....also annoying, but another topic...perhaps one of you experienced the same.

The end closest to where the door opens. On that end, when it used to vibrate from the sound, as soon as I put my hand on it it stopped.

Same here! Also that exact same spot...will see if i can insert sth there...would be the best. It looks tightly allinged.....
