Battery draining while parked...is this normal?

Just came back from a 12-day trip. I unplugged the dash cam, my Taycan dropped about 1% during this time, while Tesla dropped 50% but I think my wife forgot to close the Tesla app might have something to do with it.

My car normally loses zero percentage while parked but when it was in the body shop it lost 10% and I suspect because the mechanic was listening to the radio with the car on and air con running all the time.

50% over 12 days on a Tesla is not explained by forgetting to close the Tesla app. You either have some other app aggressively interacting with the car, or your Tesla has some major problems. Unless you meant something like Tesla was at 20% SoC and when you came back it was at 10% SoC, so it dropped 50% of the original SoC rather than 50% of the total battery capacity.

EDIT: I used to leave my Model S for many days, and I had a 3rd party dashcam going 24/7, never saw anywhere near the drop you are mentioning. Usually 1% per day was max, though after 3 days or so it would slow down (my guess car went to some deeper sleep), so even 2 weeks at the airport in the winter would not lose anywhere near 50% SoC.

My Tesla was charged at 68% and dropped to 16% in 10 days, I had to ask a friend to go to my house to charge before I return. Never seen such aggressive drop in my pervious Tesla.

Did you leave Sentry Mode on maybe?

PS> Why not leave the car plugged in? I've always left all my EV's plugged in, never a problem. Tesla used to have a poster encouraging owners to keep their cars plugged in, with a slogan "Plugged-in Tesla is a happy Tesla" IIRC.

I left a Tesla unplugged for 2 weeks many times before and never experienced such huge battery drain, I thought 68% is good enough, and expecting around 10-15% battery drain during this trip, expect the battery around 50% when I return.

I parked in my garage, I have "Exclude Home" enabled.

As others have said this SOC loss is not normal. Something may be keeping the car active. Where do you keep your key fob? It needs to be well away from the car to keep it asleep. Good luck.

We were out of the country. I agree it's not normal, since this is the first time it happens, I'm not too worry about it until it happens again.

Hi all: New '22 CT4S owner here. One thing that I've noticed is that the battery will drain while sitting. Overnight it can drop by anywhere from 5-10%. The other day, sitting for 2 hours, I lost 10 miles - got to a destination with 51 miles of range remaining, about 3 hours later I left for home and it reported 41 miles remaining.

Is this normal? Any thoughts on what I might be missing or doing wrong?

I haven't been consistently turning off the car via the power button. I've assumed that the car turns off when I lock it. Should I be using the power button more consistently?

I'd appreciate any thoughts or experiences here. Thanks!

I was wondering if you went to the dealer to have a diagnostic done? Mine is also losing capacity only when the SOC is below 40%. I can lose 6% in just two hours.

That is not normal. You do not have to go to the dealer to diagnose this as you can do it yourself via OBD/CarScanner app.

I know this is not normal. I’m just not willing to give my trophy Taycan to the dealer yet. I’m waiting to get it worse or get someone else some diagnostics.

That strategy will lead you to the Red Circle of Death and then you are stuck.
Only 1 cell has to go bad to brick your car and the evidence you provided shows exactly that.

I have 10 modules out of balance, then yes, it isn't too good. I'm just wondering when to take the car to the dealer, hoping they will replace the entire pack and not start playing doctor Frankenstein with the culprit modules.

I hope they will replace the entire pack. Several owners at my dealer are due for full packs, so if it would be me, I would get in line and not wait until your car is bricked or worse...fire.

Yes, these huge Tesla drop stories are quite odd to me. I've owned two Tesla over the past 9 years and never had any SoC drop issues. The current one (an X) is amazing in its no drop ability.

I just parked my Taycan at the airport for roughly 4 days and saw the SoC drop about 18% which was excessive ('22 4s). The temperature dropped a lot over this period (and then came back up) which may have had something to do with the loss. I also noticed a rapid drop right at the start of my drive home.
