I look at options in the exactly opposite way with the exception of the larger battery. I think that's a requirement. Other than that, options are almost worthless when it comes to the second hand market. It may help you sell your car faster, but it really doesn't add much to the value. The reason that taycans depreciate so much is that options make up a big chunk of the price when new, but depreciate to 0 in a few short years when the owner tries to sell their car.
You may find it surprising, but the larger battery option depreciates just as fast deviated stitching. As you said, it might help you sell the car faster, but that's about it. The best resale value or residual (i.e. lowest depreciation %) you can get is on a base trim, no options.

I was thinking the exact same way but after reading at our Taycan group that people specifically search for just those particular options I think having more than the wanted options would raise the price people are willing to pay.
Unfortunately I can't prove it cuz I'll never sell my car.
You know, when I bought the car I've see what options cost and I also see what options cars have that are for sale so I know my car is just loaded with options, options that people even wouldn't consider when buying new.
Lol, I almost want to sell my car, just to prove my point.
On the other hand, selling a perfectly reliable 2020 Taycan Turbo S is the stupidest thing to do.
I'll just rest my case.
🤪

Yes, I am disappointed in my Taycan 4S depreciation. But I can't find another car I like driving more! So, I'm holding onto it until I do.

Most of the options of gen 1.1 are now standard on gen 1.2.
Hardly believe depreciation has anything to do with options.
I believe though loaded Taycan gen 1.1 sell faster

Um, HD Matrix lights weren't a thing in 2020...

Electric charge port covers, air suspension, matrix lights, Lane Change Assist, electric folding mirrors, ACC, PB+ are among the standard options for UK market.

Comparing a MY26 to MY20, there's at least 30k worth of options that are now "free" in switzerland, same as UK, but of course, price has gone up by at least 20k, so not very relevant i'd say.

Even Air Suspension, Performance Battery Plus and Electric Sport Sound are not standard on some models but that's just nitpicking. 🤗
And ambient lights 😉

Similar here… same ct4 today would cost me about 170k (list price was 147k before discount four years ago)

Just for fun, I speced out the exact same Taycan Turbo CT as I got in 2023 (as close as could get, for example I can no longer spec out 22kW OBC, and I could spec non-electronic charging port to keep the aerodynamic air scarf, well... except in the Turbo GT Weissach Package, but that was not available for CT, also didn't spec carrara white metallic since it now costs $31,100 as it can only be ordered as PTS+).

Result of this exercise is 2026 options for my configuration total $25,310. For my 2023 the options totaled $23,750. If the 22kW OBC option was there, the options alone would have costed ~$3K/13% more, so it doesn't seem like they included anything extra at all, just shifted options around and increased prices. That said, the base price increased significantly though, $28,200 - more than all the options I speced (knowing that I was planning to enjoy the car for a while, I ordered every option I wanted or thought that I might want, so I don't regret not getting some option later and talk myself into trading-up early, which tends to cost way more than getting all the options up front).
