Satin Black Taycan Turbo S
Country flag
Hi all! I’ve had my new (to me) J1.1 Taycan Turbo S for a little over a week now, and finally stopped long enough to take a couple of shots.

Low mileage Turbo S in Jet Black Metallic, Topaz Satin PPF paint/Gloss PPF Carbon, full GTechniq ceramic prep, carbon mirrors, Gloss Black Mission E’s and updated Turbonite badging, dropping the “Taycan” rear badge for the cleaner looking “turbo S” and a massive spec list including every black or carbon option that was available.

Coming directly from a Tesla Model 3 Performance and running both simultaneously the Taycan is superior in almost every way - especially looks, driving characteristics, handling, road presence, prestige, build quality and just overall wow factor.

Straight line performance initially felt a little underwhelming (as in not as night and day as I expected vs the M3P), but I quickly realised that it is indeed a much quicker straight line car it’s just so well refined and quiet that it belies the actual speed you’re doing.

I still feel like the M3P “reacts” quicker initially when moving (say 50-60ish), probably due to the weight, but the Turbo S just builds and builds the speed whilst the M3P tails off quickly.

I know the Electric Sport Sound is marmite, but I’ve actually really grown to love it (sorry!), it just feels more emotive and engaging than the silence and I feel more involved in the drive.

Software, charging, updates and range is better in the Tesla no question, but that’s not what I bought it for ;)

I know it’s cliche but photos don’t do the satin finish justice. It’s more muted metallic than satin, and when the sun hits it you still get some of the metallic flake show through the film.

If there are any other owners, car groups, meets, photographers etc in the Yorkshire area then DM me - would love to hang out with some likeminded folk.

Finally a huge thank you to CT14 for helping me with the service report - it was so amazing to see everything that had been done in detail and gave me real confidence when buying and negotiating with the dealer.

Great pictures!

The underwhelming feeling of performance compared to your Model 3 is due to the power delivery of the Taycan platform.
Porsche doesn't give you that kick to body power delivery.

The solution is to get an upgrade for the full 760hp and get the improved throttle response. It will be a different car

Also the Taycan is a high speed car. Other EVs die at 80mph, Taycan is just getting started.

Thanks for sharing your experience. You can really hear the little hearts floating up through your words and it’s fun to enjoy that along with you. Cheers!

Enjoy your Turbo S as much as I enjoy mine since 30 k miles and you will have asuperb time with it.
Also coming from Tesla, I got over the software "nerf" really quickly.
Charging by the way is a lot BETTER with the Taycan as the plateau is much wider and even above 85 % speeds are respectable.
Awesome car you have there!

Welcome and congrats on your new Turbo S! I’m in a GTS myself, and you’re going to love the way these cars feel—true Porsche DNA in an EV. Unlike Teslas (which are a dime a dozen and about as common as Starbucks drive-thrus), the Taycan is rare, driver-focused, and built for people who actually enjoy driving. You made the right move—now it’s all about the roads, not the software updates.

You should change to a vanity plate that says “Fart”. When people ask what’s up with that, you can tell them that your car is a silent assassin….

Thank you all! I’m absolutely smitten. It gets so much attention when out and about, even from “non-car” people.

I’ve historically changed my car every two years but the Model 3 was so easy (and cheap as a business purchase) I’ve been in it nearly 6 years now.

I’d forgotten what it was like to go driving for fun rather than just getting from A to B. I find excuses daily to get out in the Turbo S and destroy some B roads!

Great pictures!

I’ve been following the various threads on this, and if it wasn’t for the warranty I’d 100% do it.

Off out for a little blast now

Does not affect warranty. I extended Porsche Approved on mine, passed with flying colours. Never heard of anyone getting warranty coverage denied, even those who had their original control unit modified.

Spectacular in every way! I haven’t really dug the all black ones I’ve seen in person but this just blows me away. I would probably stop and embarrassingly take pics if I walked by it. All the details! I’ve been toying with the idea of getting matte PPF on the frozen blue metallic black edition I have on order. Is that crazy?

I don’t think that’s crazy at all! Although I guess I could be a little biased :CWL:

I personally think it will look great, I find the satin accentuates and highlights the Taycans gorgeous body lines and shows details that can get a little lost on high gloss/reflective paint.

In my opinion the Satin will level up your car, but I’m sure there will be plenty that would disagree! Either way, a Frozen Blue Black Edition is going to be stunning. I bet you are super excited and rightly so! Enjoy.

This is beautiful, my Volcanic Grey MY22 CT4 is getting the same treatment this week :)

Couldn’t agree more that there are lines that are lost with the gloss that come alive with the matte
