22 kw is Euro
19.2 kw is North America

both are the same OBC

both are prone to failure

and according to this thread replacement parts are now no longer available

so a warranty replacement would retrofit an 11 kW unit - now being neutered to 9.6 kW in North American according to some owners…
I see. Thanks. Well maybe I’ll get my $1680 back for it? I’ve never charged AC above 9.6 (14-50 at home) and I have 2022 plug and charge, so I’d rather have the 11kW unit anyway. There are a few Blink and Tesla destination chargers that go to 16kW.

That’s like saying if your PB+ battery dies, it is acceptable for warranty to replace it with standard, non-PB+ battery, additionally limited to even less capacity via software. While some, who paid for the option might be happy with few hundred dollars in compensation, others might require a more expensive solution to mitigate the 50% performance reduction.

100%. One of the reasons I chose the Taycan (obviously among many others) is the 22kw that has been very useful when visiting cities in Europe. Just reimbursing the option cost won’t cut it for me. My preference is still that they find a way to fit another reliable 22kw, if not, compensation needs to be attractive to mitigate the pain of loosing the option.
Hopefully a good number of other owners will feel the same and won’t give Porsche an easy exit for this issue.

My 19.2kw obc has failed also… Porsche will also replace it with a 11kw obc under the 8 yr warranty. I am also very unhappy about this. Anyone get any compensation for it? My advisor gave me a letter which I’m supposed to contact Porsche NA.

three days ago i proposed a deal to porsche, "give me 4 years exteneded warranty in exchange for the downgrade", they countered with "we double the 1800 eur we offered and if you pay 100 eur we do 3 years extended warranty" - i immediately took the deal, the car is now at the dealer receiving the 11kw obc

In fact I did Check for 22KW DC chargers, however they seem to be pricey. And for me that would not help, since I mostly use charging in cities during the occasional 1 Hour lunch. And the 22KW is a backup when on long trips a DC charge might be not available to overcrowding or technical problems.

At Home 22KW would be luxury, but honestly 11KW is enough over night. I fully rebuild my house approx 7 years ago and the electric was build to support that. However Porsche is a luxury brand, so I find it hard to argue about just feasibility. In my 35 years of car ownership I have never experienced a downgrade and am not happy that it happens with a car that has a list price of 200K€.
my 22kw charger was replaced, the the porsche dealer told me 4 weeks later, i had luck to get this last sept replaced, now they have only 11kw charger left in stock and available.

I experienced an OBC (22kW version) breakdown last Sunday, car got towed and was diagnosed already.

With the extended warranty (car is from ‘22), it’s already nice to know that there won’t be a cost related to this, and I have a loaner until my car is back available. Dealership is doing a great job, certainly during the holiday period.

But how it got mentioned that my 22kW OBC will be replaced with the 11kW one, was done in a way as if I wouldn’t notice, resell value wouldn’t be impacted … No notion so far of any compensation while the replacement OBC has been ordered already by them.

Is compensation only done in certain countries, only offered when being pushed by the customer, …? I would consider either approved warranty or a few on call services as “acceptable” compensation, as it’s also impacting the resell value. But unsure how much effort and discussions would be needed to get it. Dealership is in NL.

Any experiences or recommendations besides the ones already mentioned in this (and other) thread(s)?

What proof did they provide for the "resell value wouldn't be affected". We know for a fact that some people paid extra money for this option when ordering their Taycans, therefore it stands to reason some people are willing to pay more to have it, no? And if so, that means that there will be people willing to pay more for a used car with this option too. Or is Porsche saying they ripped everyone off by selling an option that is literally worthless ($0) but charging people money for it?

I find it both funny and offensive how a car manufacturer can tell customers with a straight face how they plan to replace a part with only half the performance spec, and tell the customer that it doesn't matter, changes nothing. I bet if Porsche would reject it if a customer attempted to replace their car payment check with a half-spec/half-amount one, saying "hey, it's still a check, you still get money, so it doesn't affect its value". ;)

22kw charger failed and told now obsolete.

Also no 11kw chargers available and on back order, no date for any stock and they will update me again in July!!!! Car cannot be driven and is at the dealers, Porsche Portsmouth.

Anyone in the same position in the UK?

Been offered £1179 (the price of the upgrade) which I won't be accepting.

Porsche doesn't have pandemic supply chain disruptions as an excuse anymore. I guess they are just bad at managing replacement parts supply chains. :(

Went to PC today. They told me many are shown in the ordering systems as "back order", but the OBCs can still be ordered and receive within a day. The supplier of the 11kW OBC is still producing a lot. But perhaps as it looks it differs per country. Here sufficient stock at the moment.
