Hi,

I am about to buy Taycan from 2022. However, the doors are covered in greenish looking fungus? It is covered on 3 main doors and I am little worried.
Could it be factory coating or perhaps some mild fungus or something else? any suggestion or ideas? Should I be worried? Is it covered under warrant

I have a 2022 Taycan GTS and my seals started to go green in exactly the same way about a year ago, and i have no idea what caused it. My car detailer was able to get some of it off but its still quite visible (I have not raised it with my dealership).

Hi, thanks for the response. It does not seem to be an issue but just weird thing happening to the Porsche, don't you think? Thanks

Mine is doing the same after 18 months. Along with the rear light it seems Porsche forgot about English weather...

Why not ask the dealership to replace before completing purchase? They do have quite a few to sell so should be motivated... :)

I would ask to change those seal rubbers and the problem is solved?
I don't have this problem on my Taycan but I had this problem on my, first car ever, Alfa Romeo Mito. It was caused by bad weather and being always outside. Of course the reason why those going green could be something else.

Warranty for sure.

Interim, spray some "Wet and Forget" on it to kill / remove the algae, same as you would on stone - works great (on stone), to see if that help.

Not seen this before and not had it on either of my Taycans (first one I had for 2 years from new and the current one is now 1 year old).

Pretty common and probably related to humidity. I'm in Florida and my car's seal do this. Clean with a decent detergent and hit it with Armor All or a similar vinyl treatment. Disappears for a while and starts all over. Your pictures present a pretty extreme case so you should let the dealer fix it if the car is coming from Porsche. Unless Porsche is using a new compound it will probably return. The green line is pretty obvious where the "rubber" changes type.

Happens to all the Taycan in my country. Dealer will replace. Porsche used rubbers that can’t handle humidity. I’ll probably send in and changed mine when the car turns one.

Has anyone managed to successfully claim replacement door seals on Warranty. My OPC is advising it isn’t a warranty item?!

I had this issue on my 2022 Taycan whenever I wash the car. It's pretty easy to wipe off with Clorox wipes

interesting….. never heard of ‘Clorox’, did the rubbers return to normal colour and stay that way?

I can't quickly find it right now but at least for the U.S. I'm pretty sure there was a factory service bulletin for dealing with the green. Never really bothered to read it as the green wipes off fairly easily and never got bad enough to complain about. But if you search the US NHTSA website you should be able to locate the bulletin.

Edit: Found the bulletin

Porsche won't replace the seals, since naturally it is not a fault with the seals, but you can at least point the OPC to the service bulletin and get the seals cleaned before they deliver the car to you.

That’s interesting. Thank you!
