Hi guys,

With the freezing temperatures (but not excessive either) around -4C this morning. I couldn't open my doors and my trunk even though the car was pre heated 30min before departure.

I noticed that the windows got stuck into the plastic trims and even when I succeeded opening my door I couldn't close it anymore because my window was stuck in the upright position (it always slightly go down when you open/close the doors).

Same thing with the trunk, the plastic joint near the roof section made some very loud cracking noise (I thought I broke something) and the trunk didn't open all the way up.

It's the first time I'm having these issues with a car.... I'm really surprised I got these issues with only low freezing temperature. I see other posts with people driving in -20C... How do you do to open your doors without disassembling your car?

I picked up my X5 at the airport yesterday, snowed in, -17C at 1:00AM, after it sat there for 2 weeks. Doors also frozen. Maybe it’s more weather related vs. design?

I think it most depends on how wet the seals are when you park it.
I had a similar experience once last year but never since.

Wipe your door seals with WD-40.

There's always a spate of 'Artic' testing by most manufacturers but then there's our real world weather which apparently is more severe!

Moisture on the seals can't be avoided and so unless you keep these in check you will inevitably run into some issues.

Probably like mentioned above humidity on the rubbers when parked.

This picture was me last week at 5 am and minus 8 Celsius. Preconditioned. Used trunk frunk and 4 doors to pack and leave (after removing the snow) and no issues opening and closing Some days before (second picture)the car was covered with ice and no issues.

In Belgium it is parked inside. Will se tonight what happens I have a late meeting and it is parked outside.

I use Aerospace 303 on all rubber trim, cars and boats and more. Great stuff.

yeah that reminded me. It was the MINI SE or the S2000. I think that it was the SE having same issue as the window got stuck up, so even if u could open the door, u can't really close it. It is issue with all Frameless window doors.
