These might be the only cars in the world to be reverse engineered from EV to ICE at a large scale.

PPE Sport is a shared Platform so it makes the most financial sense to modify it for ICE.

I don’t see how it could remain uncompromised though.

Thats why I just purchased the Taycan. I don't see any better EVs in pipeline for the US

This also seemingly confirms that they abandoned plans to have the battery pack behind the seats for the EV version, to give it a mid engine sports car feel, which they had massive problems making work and literally bankrupted their battery provider.

It seems to be going back to battery in the floor, same as all EVs currently mass manufactured. This pretty much leaves the SSC SC-01 to be the only EV with a mid mounted battery delivering that sporty drive.

The “skateboard” seems to be the best design for EVs thus far.

Because it's the only design anyone brought to production so far.

Hard to judge it against others, if there are no others.

From reviews in china of the SC-01, everyone agrees it "feels" more sporty than any other EV. So assuming it does make it to mass production, maybe the "best design" throne will be taken by the 2nd ever battery design 😅

It was one of the points/features that interested me most in the cayman EV. It's a pity to see it's gone.

I would think that a hybrid setup simiiar to the new 911 GTS would make sense and get then halfway to full electric. For now, I have given up on availability of the Cayman E any time soon.
My dealer says it will be the end of the decade before it's on the road, so as an interim move, I just ordered a 2026 911S to replace my '09 997.2S. With 100k miles on it, I am ready to move on.

As have I. I am quite frustrated by the sparse EV offerings, and as much as I love Porsche I’m ready to jump ship if a more suitable vehicle comes out.

Something along the lines of the (fake) Tesla Roadster would be perfect, but not Tesla.
I really truly want a 911 Targa EV, but that one will NEVER happen.

We were gaining momentum on EVs and now we’re pulling back (industry-wide.)
It bums me out because the EV powertrain just makes so much more sense than the Rube Goldberg of an ICE engine exploding itself thousands of times per second.

For sure....I love my 2020 Taycan 4S,....it has been trouble free, and surely bests ICE propulsion.
If the Cayman EV does not emerge, i will replace my 2020 4S with the Gen 2 Taycan when it is released. I expect that, when EV range equals or exceeds ICE range and prices drop, we will see a revival of the EV market. Hope springs eternal...maybe first gen Tacans will even become collectable.
