Today I did a 3+ hour drive through the Texas Hill Country using the Porsche Roads app, starting in NW Austin, going down all the way to Hays City Store & Ice House (which btw it is fantastic and was packed for lunch).
The car did really good through the winding roads, the hills, and the switchbacks (my wife otoh was gripping that door handle
) and I got a couple of errors I have not seen yet:
1) LKA kept beeping that I needed to move to the middle of the road as it did not recognize backroads without lines on the pavement. These are county and farm-to-market roads where there are two lanes (one each way), sometimes not marked. I got the error twice and I had to disable it to make the beeping sound and the dashboard warning stop.
2) For some reason while I was going 65 on a 45 mph road, it gave me the message to move the keyfob to ensure it was still in the car. That was weird so I took it out of my pocket and placed it in the storage under the AC screen. That removed the message instantly. But it was during some fun curves so my wife was afraid I was not going to pay attention to the road (I did).
Both times we were wondering what was going on because I’ve never seen this before in other vehicles, so I told my wife it was probably because “the Taycan is so advanced, it sees the 2 unmarked lanes as 1”. Needless to say, it kept me wondering what else was going to pop up, and I setup my battery monitoring on the right with the tire monitoring on the left jic.
Anyone else have this happen to them? Hoping it’s a one-time issue because them twisty roads in the central Texas hill country are a lot of fun to mess around with!
