So, long story short but I spec’d my car and had it since new, but it was a company car and fully funded by the company for 5 years.
I was given the opportunity to buy it for a decent price and ignoring every sensible bone in my body I decided to buy it. I love the car! It came with a 3 year TMO (the motoring organisation) EV warranty and 3 years AA cover for £600 so seemed a no brainier. Max claim 5k.
The car is on 82k miles ( December 2020 4s) which is feeding my dilemma. Carry on using it for work miles and go to the moon, or limit the mileage and get another car for the commute. Not decided on this yet ( have been offered a macan turbo as company car I could put the miles on)
Car has obviously been highly maintained and wanted for nothing. 9 months ago it had new PSCB brake discs/ pads at an eye watering cost of £9k and pre me purchasing it went to Porsche and had inspection and 2 new tyres. That service was £11k total!
So, the question. 2 parts.
First part, even though I’ve had the car since new and only ever been to Colcheter Porsche for all maintenance because I’m technically a new owner, I’ve had to wait 3 months before they will apply an extended warranty and requires a £378 inspection. If anyone has had an inspection is there any watch outs or common things they try to sting you for?
Secondly, would you bother adding the warranty? My thinking is for the £378 cost of inspection and the warranty fee the car would easily be worth more that would offset the cost should I resell? I believe you can transfer the warranty.
Thinking about adding the 3 year warranty. Costs below,
re warranty check : £378
Warranty :
1 year would be £1250
2 years would be £2190
3 years would be £3080
The 100k limit on the HV battery is on my mind and in the other thread re this still not sure if the extended warranty will cover this?
So, appreciate any input if you’ve had the inspection and should I even bother with the additional cost? Will they put everthing down to wear/ tear due to the mileage?
Car is going into Porsche next week for a service as covered 20k since last service at 62k at cost of £480 as they’ve deducted the brake fluid change due to the recent PSCB replacements. Warranty inspection booked for mid march.
My car, spec wise due to the way the scheme works I had to pay for options upfront so they were limited but still came to 12k. Obviously I’d of loved more but it’s worked for me for 5 years and looks great still. Only thing I’ve added is carbon fibre wing mirrors and just had a steering wheel re done by Jack Royal in Alcantara, yet to be fitted.
