Race Tex door sills

I'm very pleased with my decision to get the door sills in Race Tex.
It gives it a premium feel and very durable, especially if you don't have Comfort Entry as your shoes scrape the sill more often.

B pillar in Race Tex is a must too for the same reason.

It's interesting the Race-Tex queen (the GTS) has Race-Tex on the Roof-lining, A and B-pillars (but just the upper section) and the Sun visors by default, but not the door-sills. I definitely get a lot of dirt tracking on those door-sill plastic pieces.

That being said, it's $2230.00 to add Race-Tex door-sills and illuminated guards (the only option for this) to a current GTS build :\

I got just about every option and it was $2230 for this option as well.

The plastic stuffs and can't be fixed. I matte PPFed the illuminated guard which was a life saver

I had the leather ones on my Turbo S, tbh it scuffs more than plastic. The Racetex is better.
But plastic is really not a big deal, it costs peanuts to replace.

The list price for the whole bottom trim piece is 115 EUR.
So for 230 EUR you can have brand new ones for the front, no big deal.

Yeah I had it re-painted and restored and a few weeks later I had it scuffed again.
Looked really nice but not practical.

The racetex isn't practical in our crappy winter weather here, it would get dirty and soaked with mud really fast unfortunately. So plastic it is.

On the facelift the racetex trim reaches much lower though.

If you compare the Race Tex to the B Pillar, you will notice it looks more like fabric than suede. There are repellents for Alcantara that will protect it against slush or water.

I don't drive in the rain so I didn't use any protectant, but I brush it out with my seat and steering wheel after every drive to keep it clean fluffy.

Use this and a brush for your dogs slobber

Your upholsterer can add "race tex" for a fraction of the cost.
I recall it was less than €400 cuz he can use leftovers.
I'm thinking of doing exactly that, it gives a nice premium look, well done @Mr.Smith !
And you can brush it if it gets dirty with a suede brush (the same I'm using for my race tex steering wheel).
Rubber for removing dirt, soft metal (bronze/copper) for getting the fibres back in shape.

This was just the tread I was looking for. I am still debating adding this or not. Not too concerned with the price of it, as I look at things over the long term usage. So around $2400 or so is next to nothing over months of finance. Im more interested in its durability. Ive learned from you all that it is a more durable race-tec with short pile, which is good to know. I was thinking going with leather as it's offered in configurator description, however it defaults to Race- tec for the 2026 GTS spec. Another poster had mentioned and ive seen with my own eyes as well that an effort has to be made to remove some of the plastic bits from the Taycans. The B-pillar does in fact extend much lower in the 26 GTS. I have the option to go lower door sills AND add lower b-pillar trims in Leather. This removes the lower race tec however and I think the race tech will suffice and don't need to add the leather. Based on the look of the OP's pic...I might just add the Race tee. Im in the Mid East of the US, so we don't have terribly bad weather...just want to be certain it can hold up to typical in/eg-gress elements and wear and tear.

SO back to removes the plastic bits. Im changing out the plastic on the cup holder to leather as well. $400 option. The only other part in question for me is the inner door panel. Im going full leather chalk interior so I don't think I really need leather on the door ends.

I wish my car had the illuminated door-sills

And if you're thinking of ordering a GTS, it comes standard with 18 way sport seats. I wish mine had the 14 way comfort seats; the sport seats are not comfortable for longer rides.

The lower B Pillar is the most vulnerable point of the interior. It's guaranteed to scratch no matter what because it's not properly placed in relation to the front seats.

Leather will be the worst possible material, Race Tex the optimal due do to its durability, plus it gives it consistency with the upper B Pillar
