The lower B Pillar is the most vulnerable point of the interior. It's guaranteed to scratch no matter what because it's not properly placed in relation to the front seats.

Leather will be the worst possible material, Race Tex the optimal due do to its durability, plus it gives it consistency with the upper B Pillar
Thanks for the answer. I think I might go ahead and spec the illuminated door sills in Carbon with Race-tec inner door sills after all.

I wish my car had the illuminated door-sills :)

And if you're thinking of ordering a GTS, it comes standard with 18 way sport seats. I wish mine had the 14 way comfort seats; the sport seats are not comfortable for longer rides.
I have massaging seats currently in the MB and I will always spec them. 14 way w/ Massage is a non negotiable item for me. Ive passed soooo many specs that don't have it. All this customization is basically forcing me to buy new. I'm somewhat over even looking anymore!

On the facelift if you have the racetex headliner option then it goes much lower than on the pre-facelift.

Compare pre-facelift:
Porsche Taycan Race Tex door sills 1771712997792-y7

To the facelift:
Porsche Taycan Race Tex door sills 1771713091525-j1

So you really don't have that problem.

With the racetex headliner option the lower door sills in leather/racetex also suddenly become a significantly less attractive option, since it's only the lower bit.

Side note, my J1.2 is NOT a GTS, I have the race-tex headliner and the door sills are as pictured in the lower picture.
I was seriously considering having the whole thing, but after realizing this difference on the J1.2 I skipped it, because it made it irrelevant for me.

On my J1.2, no scuffing on the lower back... it's all in the lower front and occasionally in the bottom- middle.

Even though I have Race Tex, I put my right hand on the lower B Pillar, slide my butt across my hand to protect the car.
Sacrifice body parts for the Taycan

I disagree strongly! I think it’s a question of anatomy. I so much prefer the 18 ways. I find that any length of drive a firmer seat is more supportive and therefore comfortable

The 18 way is not "more firm", it's just tighter and harder to get in and out of. Useful pushing hard in the corners and on the race track, not so useful in day to day usage IMO.
I much prefer the 14 way massage seat in my J1.2 to the 18 way I had in my J1.1 Turbo S.

There is zero difference in the firmness of it though, just the shape.

18 way side bolsters make it harder getting in and out of too for everyday use.
That said, I still wish the US had the carbon buckets

I’m not going to disagree with you about the seat fits and how it feels, yes it does have a lot more bolstering - I think the way you perceive it is right for you as an individual. That said, I do wish I had a massage function - only thing I miss from my E63. I’m just not sure I’d trade to a 14 way to get it.

Do show some evidence of that. The firmness is exactly the same.
Difference is basically only the side bolster depth and the backrest shape. All the bottom part and all the mechanisms are pretty much identical.

what I’m saying is that it feels firmer TO ME. If that’s not factually correct if you measure it with an acme firm-o-meter 3000, it’s unimportant. I find the seats feel more like my race car seats and I love them.

Okay, there isn't any more bolstering on the bottom (it's identical). Backrest has a different pattern, it's smoother, so that can feel a bit firmer, but it isn't really.
However, they do hug you a lot more on the sides, and also hold you better in place in the corners.

I didn't think the extra pain in getting in and out was worth it. I'm quite tall with a lot of height in my legs (seating position almost all the way back), so it's already a sufficient challenge to get out without having the side bolsters in the way.

A lot of people have complained about comfort on longer trips, but I think it's mostly about the 18 ways being fairly narrow, I did not have any comfort issues with the 18 way. I don't find the 14 way more comfortable apart from the massage function and easier ingress/egress.

Just as a side note, my Turbo S used to have the 18 ways, and I now specced the 14's on my J1.2, so I have a pretty good comparison after spending quite a bit of time in both.

im used to climbing over a cage, or into my NSX or GT2, which also have bolsters, so it’s not a bolster problem for me, I think you’re right, the seats feel back feels totally different and to me not as cushioned. I’m 6’ but wear 30” waist jeans so the side bolstering is very comfortable - and I’m biased towards snug… 6 points and a HANS device make for a very tight fit, anything less is luxurious

FWIW, the 18 way sports seats on a J1.1 2024 GTS ST that I test drove had much softer feeling seats compared to my 2025. I didn't spend all that much time in it, but that experience made me think that I would be ok with them.

Perhaps the 2025 will soften over time.
